Choice 1: Keep Dabo as your coach and just stop with all the talk of how you want him to change and be like all the others. He has made it clear that he has morals and standards and he wants to play by those rules. That’s his MO and like it or not, that is who he is. He wants the old college model- one that graduates people.
Choice 2: Demand that your AD fire Dabo and find someone that “wins at all cost”. A coach that’s going to cut the bottom out and replace with a transfer. And/or take a commitment and then continue to recruit that position in hopes of finding someone better. When he does, then make the other de -commit. And find the cash to pay whatever it takes to get the hottest guy in the transfer market. And doesn’t care about graduation one bit (aka UGA).
Those are your choices. Stop with the “I just want him to fill a need or 2 from the portal”. That doesn’t fit into the above choices.
Every day some 4-5 star enters the portal and the same clowns are going to take them- Georgia, OSU, Texas and FSU. They have chosen option 2.
I hate that CFB has come to this. But these schools are just like Biden- they have a press that covers up everything they do to win. This same press bad mouths every thing the “good guy” does.
It’s an ugly choice but thats what it is.

the other way either. We can't outbid those "usual suspect" schools that are always the highest bidder. The math just doesn't work out. So might as well keep our dignity and watch for divine intervention.

How about choice 3 where we operate in a moral and ethical way relating to the portal and if we have a need, we recruit the right kids who are willing to come for the right reasons. We act like every kid in the portal only cares about money when maybe all they really want is a fresh start and an opportunity.
All of these conversations seems to always run to the extremes and never consider anything else. If he doesn't want to use it that is purely his call but let's not couch it under a reason that it is all corrupt and therefore we can't use it.

That’s option A but with tampering or upfront payments (both against the rules) it is an uphill battle. So back to A or B….

How has that worked out so far? Several players in the portal have been contacted and offered by Clemson and they chose to go elsewhere. That's the way it is and so be it.

Option 3 is laughable with what’s going on with the portal Wake up there is no option three and now I like how Dabo runs our football operation We all say Clemson is a different place Where heres a tidbit for you Leave it the xxxx alone. I’m 81 and I’ve seen a lot of Clemson. Leave it alone

If you actually felt compelled to review some of my post history you would see many posts in support of Dabo but I have been one who thinks selectively using a tool the right way to fill needs that may not be filled with younger talent that isn't ready yet, is not a foolish pursuit.

I love Dabo but even if I did not I’m not going to worry myself in how he decides to run his program. At the end of the day I cannot change it. My only hope is that some group that deals in college football and it’s future steps in and get this mess reigned in.

If I'm about to get in a fight I want to maximize my opurtunity by winning the fight by being able to get in more than 3 punches when I need to get in 15 punches.
If I'm about to get in a gun fight against many..... I'm going to need more than a 3 bullet revolver.
On a parting note.... if Biden is covering up stuff then Trump is paying people to cover up stuff too.....or he might make an intimidating phone call.

With full respect to Coach Swinney who has earned another 10-15 years of delivering above average to very good seasons in the future with a lifetime of top-level pay, most coaches and programs can snap a finger and provide any young man or woman athlete with a college degree.
See UNC. Class attendance was not required. Assignments were not required. Tutors could do the work. Professors and grad students can be manipulated. As one example, illiterate DT Dexter Manley graduated from Oklahoma State with a second grade reading level.
So yes, I'm glad Coach Swinney has high standards for academics and his players, but I do not equate graduation with demonstrating academic commitment or excellence. Most schools are graduating players. UGA's amazing inability to do so (41% graduation rate) is an outlier of epic proportion.

I don't know how graduation rates are measured but I wonder if schools who have a high transfer rate out of their programs are penalized in the calculation because those students didn't graduate?

I trust Dabo to guide the football program through this chaotic and confusing time of turmoil so that when "the new order of college football" emerges Clemson will be in a position to compete at the highest level.
What's right for UGA and aTm and Colorado isn't necessarily right for Clemson. This is not a problem looking for a "one size fits all" solution.
