Starting QB for FSU last 2 games.
And, all the recruiting sites are saying FSU is going to sign Tony Castellanos from the portal. He's visiting tomorrow.
Very divided fan base on that decision. Most Nole fans are not in favor of it.
Based on what I know, which is nothing other than any other fan would know, he wouldn't be my choice. But, Norvell knows that if he gets the QB wrong this year it will affect his coaching career for the next 20 years. He knows he HAS to get it right.

.... there is some speculation he might be granted an extra year. He got hurt in his 5th game. He would have to apply to NCAA for an "injury redshirt" and have it approved to have another year. There is some speculation he will do that. (I don't think he will, but he might.) If he gets an extra year I would be shocked if it was at FSU. He is nothing like the QB that Malzahn wants in his system.

If things don't go well this year, he probably has about 20 months left at FSU. And, he will never get another job even close to what he's making now.
So, for the next 20 years his life will be directly affected by the choice hi is making in this off season.

because Norvell refused to take his lumps and settle his QB situation for the long term (i.e. invest in an underclassman and develop them). This year should have been the year for FSU to take their lumps and reset their future QB situation with longevity, depth, and stability. Perhaps he should have built a team around Brock Glenn from the off season instead of rolling the dice on DJU. As it was - Glenn got thrown in the fire twice - against UGA in the 2023 bowl game and then again after game 5 after DJ got hurt. Trying to develop a guy in the middle of a firestorm of a season is hard....
Instead, Norvell appears to keep repeating his mistake by looking for a portal "right now" solution to stave off his firing. Castellanos is not a bad QB (better than DJ for sure) but ain't all world either. He got removed from the starting position at BC for a reason. At most Castellanos is a one year "fix" to where FSU will be in the same position at the end of next year of having no QB depth. This is simply a very tenuous/stupid way to live and if I were to put money on it - will ultimately be Norvell's downfall.
