Finally, a wedding worth discussing

Kentucky families, seems cool
Dude had the best mullet ever. Made Kenny Powers look like he had a buzz cut. Just a breathtaking Kentucky Waterfall.
2 signature drinks and one was an old fashion and the other a fruity lemonade with vodka
Weirdly, nobody drank the old fashion even though these are Kentucky bourbon folks (we had Maker’s Mark)
Everything started pretty normal with passed food and a champagne tower, etc
No hotties worth reporting, groom is super fun and bride was a normal blushing bride
We go upstairs for dinner and stuff gets weird
Apparently bride was raised by grandma and not real mom. Her parents are divorced and step dad was cool, had a few vodka sodas and dropped a $20 every other time
People start talking drama about how mom was upset that grandma had preferential treatment over her. Parents were supposed to split costs of wedding and mom didn’t pay, so groom paid her half.
Mom changes dresses because someone called her original dress ugly. Seemed like more a power struggle than actual trash talk
Well, it got weird. Mom disappeared to bridal suite, bride cries during reception, dad’s toast flops
3 piece band playing sweet classic rock, but not wedding music. Nobody danced, but Lynyrd Skynyrd was played
Groom acts like nothing weird is happening.
This was all foreshadowed by the first guest that said he knew the groom since kindergarten. He said things may get weird. He later asked what the worst event we worked was. This one now ranks up there
Some facts are slightly skewed to protect the innocent, but it was so weird and awkward
Also, how many of you upstate UDPs have a hat tan? Dudes had legit white lines on forehead and tan faces
I can probably answer some questions, but don’t wanna offer too much info
Let’s see what tomorrow’s wedding brings!
Also, Saturday at the poverty venue, so that should be fun also
Catch y’all in the morning arguing about dems vs pubs and other useless nonsense

And wife gets pissed when I don't take a side. Like one side is better than the other when they're both petulant Karens...? Sorry. Not playing that game.
Was really foreign to me growing up. All families got along basically.

So the wedding reception turned family squabble

Any blows thrown? Any hair pulling? Any "I hate yous?"
I think we need a little more details for classification purposes.

From what I understand

They knew that there would be drama because of the grandma raising the bride and not her mom
They tried to elope and were pressured into doing a “real” wedding. Hindsight says that was family manipulation to create a stage to cause a scene
MOB was loving and then cussed out the planner and then loving again. She and the bride disagreed on something and there was the typical argument over who’s wedding it is (MOB vs Bride is pretty common)
No fights this time. We did have a West Virginia wedding that ended with a bridesmaids BF head butting somebody

So 6 hours worked - $22 in tips from a 4 way split.

(Note to self - Add to Tipping Stereotype Spreadsheet 1-A:
Western Kentucky (or was it Eastern Kentucky ? ? . . . it matters), drama-centric gatherings will result in CRAP contributions to your disposable income.)
Got it.
Anything else for Spreadsheet 1-A ? ?

The mom likely has some sort of mental, addiction, alcohol problem so I don’t want to totally call her out for her actions because that would be like serving old fashioneds instead of mint juleps

You’re in the circle of trust, so I give you the benefit of the doubt. But your discretion ultimately hurts your cause, and for that reason, I’m out.

If I was at a table, minding my own biznatch, sipping on numerous Makers Old Fashioneds, would I have known about all the drama that was swirling ?

It’s not often dad can’t say a speech, mom is taken upstairs half way through and never comes back, seeing the bride run inside sobbing (not happy crying), a groom that DGAF, a mom nearly passed out at dinner, a mom order a virgin drink for her daughter and then daughter tries to order the real deal (not my first rodeo sista)
