Dude ran 80 yards and had clearly tweaked his hamstring. He hobbled forward through the end of the endzone and into the tunnel while trying to work it out/figure out if it was bad. His teammates followed and celebrated/checked on him for about 2 seconds.
The police officer followed and his actions weren't those of someone getting them out of the tunnel. He walked into and through them and threw a bit of an elbow into one of them. His actions made zero sense in actually doing a job. It was an exercise in authority by a pissed off fan who happened to also be a police officer.

I dont think you all will ever see me shed a tear when something, in the context of sports, bad happens to the dirt packers, but not only did i find what the officer to have done to be as absolutely cheap and unnecessary as can be imagined, but the players responded with a much maturity as one could hope.
As for the officer, he is the type that should never be placed in a position of authority anywhere. If he isn't fired, he needs to be visited to whatever might be today's equivalent to a meter maid.
But I'm glad they lost the game.

Long way to the tunnel … just sayin. He seemed just fine with all his teammates coming out. Thus my observation. No clue on what patrolman’s role in security was but glad LaBron James chimed in.

I disagree entirely with your characterization of the gamecock players actions.
But even were I to grant that, the police officer did NOTHING that would be in line with his job there. He wasn't keeping order or protecting. He walked through the players and threw a shoulder/elbow into one of them. Then he threw a little authority fit that they had the nerve to be made of solid matter that he couldn't walk through.

The players did nothing wrong and the cop has not business getting involved with what is truly an officiating job. The fact that tbe players went into tbe tunnel is really non of his business. He was passed because at the time hos Aggies were getting embarrassed. Dude she get fired period. I hate everything that ever wears or wore garnet, but the players did nothing wrong.

My point was that even if I granted that it was some hideous breach of etiquette (which again, it wasn't) to walk into the tunnel for a second or two.... the officer was not doing anything that he should in that situation.

Love the responses..just curious.. glad all agree with LeBron James that pointed out the patrolman, who was going in to tunnel after numerous players had gone in , to probably clear out whomever else might have still been there. Or maybe he was just looking for a fight with football players. 🙂

Oh please he barely touched the player and NONE of them should have run way off the field into a tunnel. Bet if it had happened at Clemson U you’d have a different view. Those patrolman gives hours directing traffic, on sidelines etc for college games. I appreciate authority. Anyway I feel the whole thing with patrolman blown way out of proportion only due to LeBron James. Whatever..just my thought.

You can respect the police and still recognize this guy is totally in the wrong and what he did was completely out of line. I was impressed with the Scar players that they got away from him as fast as they could and completely neutralized the situation

Running into a tunnel tbat is regularly used for players entering and leaving the field is not an isdue. Cop could have simply walked over and looked to see if tbey were OK. The guys came out 3 wide jogging, he extended his shoulder into them aggressively. He was a Jack#$$!

I agree with you partly . . .

The cop was trying to walk between them, and he didn't end up having enough room, so **in response to that** (and this is important), he braced his arms and then pushed off with his elbow on #27. It's not like he just walked up and shouldered them - he didn't have enough room to get by and was justifiably irritated about it. But he overreacted.
#27 was trying attempting to give the officer room. #8 was not. The initial interaction was partly #8's fault, partly the cops fault, and 0% #27's fault. Even though #8 should have been more aware and courteous about a guy walking between them, the cop (as an authority who should aim not to escalate, should have instead turned himself a tad sideways to get through rather than walking square when he knew that would happen. It's #8's fault that it came to that, but being a cop that would have been the better choice not to have an incident.
If it had been a normal social interaction (i.e. no cop involved), then #8 would be wholly at fault. I just think the cop should be held to a higher standard.

Lol how does that cop's shoe leather taste?
He was absolutely in the wrong. There was no reason for him to even be in that tunnel at the time. He sought out a problem and unlike on the streets where his bodycam footage (if he even turns it on) conveniently disappears he was cought on national television being an egotistical child. He's exactly the kind of cop we should be rooting out of law enforcement.

Oh hush with the weak, standard issue boot licking trope. You're not even responding to what I wrote.
No, I gave a very balanced and perfectly accurate assessment. Whether the cop should have been there or not isn't something I'm privy to, but it's none of the players' business either, so that's irrelevant. But the fact remains that any half-way courteous person would allow enough room for someone to pass between two others, and #8 didn't. That's not book-licking, that's just a fact.
#27 was perfectly courteous and then, like I said, the cop overreacted and shouldn't have. He also had no reason to treat #27 like he was the problem when he shouldn't have. The cops superiors should deal with him in a measured way for losing his cool unnecessarily. But none of that means I have to ignore that all things considered, it was minor, and #8 was partly at at fault.

if thats your thought please don't think anymore. He elbowed the guy on his left and shoulder checked the guy on his right. What was he even doing walking through the players anyways? Did you even see it? This is typical A&M stuff.
