This coaching staff......

has demonstrated it's inability to come up with an offensive game plan that makes sense all year long. Hopefully someone on the staff has been watching Carolina's weakness in the middle of the field. If Chad Morris continues to call those lateral pass plays be ready for a pick six or interceptions which will turn the momentum of the game. Run Dye until they stop him and throw to the middle of the field to the TEs and RBs. It is our only chance not to get outcoached again!

Ahhh , another " I dislike our direction " thread. I will participate here , but only as long as you use the premise of our failures to satisfy you as the basis for any retorts to your tired post idea.

It's not Morris it's Cole. Cole can't make a pass over the middle or a deep pass, so all you are left with is a crappy run game and siding passes. Don't think some people realize how bad Cole really is.

I have thought for a while that we were struggling to find an offensive identity, even going back to last year. I think part of it was the absence of a premiere RB. Without that guy, Morris has relied on TB, and now DW, to be our run game threat.
Dye is the first true RB Morris has landed here. Gallman's a good back, but there's a difference in a guy that IS a running back and a guy that can play RB. Dye is so much more decisive, and gets downhill quickly.
Like I said, he's really the first one we've had (that Morris didn't inherit)... and I hope he can help us settle down into what we want to do.

Yep - Dye

was a pleasure to watch.
The 18 yarder late in game was a thing of beauty - for him and lead blocker (Sam Cooper).
Coop plugged the linebacker and drove him down the field with Dye parked on his outside hip for a bit before TD jumped out into the open space. Coop had a little fist pump after pushing his guy like ten yards down field....then went and helped Dye off the ground.
I had to watch that one a few times. Was perfect.

Cooper is our best blocking TE for sure.... which again

speaks to an identity issue.
Chad openly says we want to run the ball and be a. "smash mouth spread". However, our TEs are clearly guys that are recruited to give people matchup problems outside. We have to teach them how to play on the line and hope we can make them a physical TE.
This is one area where Chad has differed from Malzahn.
I think Chads a good play caller, and he's done a ton of good... but we need to find an identity.

If you've been paying attention, it's hard to game plan with a QB who cannot complete a pass longer than 20 yards, an Oline that cannot block, and Running backs who cannot make anyone miss. I said before the season the coaches will earn their paycheck a this year, and the slew of injuries has just made it tougher. I give Dabo and Morris a "C" so far this season and Venables an "A+". I do put the poor Oline play square on Dabo's shoulders. He has had enough time to get that fixed. Help is on the way, but not this year.

I can see us winning, if Chad puts together a game plan

that utilizes our players' strengths. We cannot substitute our QB as a RB. We cannot use Stoudt as a roll out scrambling QB for the passing game. We must call plays within our players' limitations. We have the talent. We can win.
