bowden on fsu bolting

"My message would be stay in the ACC," Bowden told Arute in a transcript provided by SiriusXM. "Do you want to win a National Championship at Florida State? You've got a better chance in the ACC than you have in the Big 12, or even the SEC.
"You say, ‘Well, gosh, they're much stronger in those conferences.' Yeah! They beat up on each other and you can't hardly get there. You know what? Florida State, wait ‘til you get good enough to rule the ACC then you start looking for someplace to jump. But my opinion? They should stay right where they are."

the last team standing must be pretty dang good. A lot of good teams won't get to the game, though, because they eliminate all but one.....wait,.....never mind.

They could have joined the SEC then, but chose the ACC.

Still think they wouldn't jump at a chance to reverse that decision?

they had joined the SEC 22 years ago, they wouldn't be looking to join the Big XII now, they would still be happy with their choice...That is not the case now and they are looking to leave...

FSU did what they thought was best for them in the 90's and that was join the ACC. They went on to win a national championship and finish in the top 5 for 8 or so consecutive years.
If they now decide they want to move to a different conference, that is a separate decision from the one they made back then.
FSU is fine with the decision they made then especially considering one of the guys that made it, Bobby Bowden, says he would do it again.

Making a decision now does not mean the decision you made earlier was a mistake. It only means something changed.
