Oh hey guys, let a few days burn off before I posted

here just in case.
Paris was amazing, pretty surreal to have visited Notre-Dame the day before the fire. Truly devastating loss.
We went on an impromptu (planned Sunday, which is why I asked on Monday, left Tuesday) trip to Paris. Weather was great except the first day which was rainy, and had a fantastic time. Hit all the major tourist stuff on this trip, will do more next time. This was our proof of concept trip, managed to get Delta 1 both ways, which is amazeballs.
Seriously, Delta 1 was a highlight:
Appetizer
Ice cream dessert (I missed a picture of the steak main course)
Breakfast close to landing in Paris
Louvre:
It's a mad house to see the Mona Lisa
Musée Rodin:
Napoléon's Tomb:
Musée d'Orsay:
Versailles:
Eiffel Tower:
The Moose Bar:
We found a Canadian bar to watch Game 2 of Canes v. Caps, which was pretty cool...minus the Canes losing in overtime. We also went back Sunday to watch Tiger win The Masters.
Cathédrale Notre-Dame de Paris:
So the direct from RDU to CDG is ideal for us to non-rev on. So I think that'll be our base point to not try to non-rev to Europe through ATL or JFK/LGA/EWR. So from Paris, we could get on another plane or take the train which would be fun.
I think Versailles was my favorite part, so beautiful and vast.

our list for the next trip.
We ate crepes at a few restaurants near École Militaire, our hotel was near there. I'm allergic to hazelnut, the Nutella crepe is the fad crepe.

Not even a Wings or an outlet mall for shopping?
France sounds more like a punishment than a vacation.

I only have one question.

What’s the jelly for?
Surely not the cinnamon roll. I don’t see any toast. I’m so confused.
Other than that, nice pics.

I used to be jealous of teh folks I'd see in first class

flying in and out of Charleston. Then I got to thinking about it, and I saw the same folks on there just about every time I flew. Which meant they were probably on there a lot more than I am.
They earned whatever it is they get.

I travel ATL to LAX every other week for my current program
Apr 18, 2019, 2:16 PM

I see the same passengers on Monday morning every trip and it's become a predictable rotation for flight attendants.
And with all that, when the upgrade list gets posted and there's only 3 seats available...I have no chance. I'm usually somewhere in the low-teens on the list.

After seeing the dismal points I was gaining, I can't imagine how much these folks must fly to stay in first class all the time.
Must be George Clooney types in "Up in the Air".

The guy in the seat next to me on my last return trip
Apr 18, 2019, 5:04 PM
|
|
1.7+ million lifetime miles with Delta, and about half of his career travel was before Delta started offering miles to "industry tickets" (which I learned was a program many airlines had to offer deep discounted tickets to companies that supported the industry. The guy did audits of Tier 2 suppliers for a couple manufacturers). He was Diamond level last year at almost 150,000 MQM.
And was sitting middle seat in Comfort+ because he was too far down on the list to get the first class upgrade.
Don't ask me how I managed to wrangle an aisle seat over him.

if you don't mind, a couple of questions for you...

I apologize if you've already covered this in other posts. How did you score Delta 1 tickets? And what would you say this trip cost, ballpark? Been thinking about going back, but it's been 20 years and I have no clue what the going rate is today...
Nice photos BTW.
