Seems really interesting that LSU would hire Steele

Considering the guy was so completely lost against spread offenses, running QB's and motions. Auburn isn't getting away from doing all those things each and every play, A&M is a spread team, Miss St is a HUNH team, Ole Miss is a HUNH team, even Alabama has apparently adopted the spread, so why would Les Miles even begin to think this is a good idea? They will have the worst Deffense in the conference and may only beat Arkasas in their division. The interview had to have the question asked.... "So the jet sweep, have you figured that out"? In which I'm sure he replied "yes.... Eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes."
Oh well, their funeral I guess.....

I was just sitting here thinking that it must be LSU's time to drastically struggle for 5 or 6 years before they start climbing back from near the bottom. I guess that will depend on how long the Admin will allow the FB program struggle before they start making changes.

Hiring Steele may end up being Miles' demise. I don't know of anyone who actually thinks he is a good coach. Yeah, he's won some games and a national championship. LSU did that in spite of him being the HC rather than because of him. LSU is one of those schools where you can tread water and still win 7-8-9 a year on shear talent alone.
Hiring Steele supports my opinion on him. Steele, although a great guy, is a terrible DC! Its that whole insanity thing. The definition of insanity is doing the same things over and over expecting a different result. Anyone that hires Steele as a DC is certifiable! He flat out sucks. I'm glad that he is going to LSU though, cause I hate that program and would nothing more than to see it crumble and I can watch Les Miles cry but I know he would probably do it by calling a timeout at a bad time or not at all or stand and watch the clock tic down while he stands there with a look on his face that says "synapses do not occur" and I swear I can smell purple, eat a booger and sit down on the sideline, Indian style, suck his thumb and rock back forth.
Get that dude a blankee and pop in his Barney tape! I can't stand Les Miles

He replaced a Dillon native who left with another Dillon native. He must love South of the Border. Seems like a place Miles would hang out.

It is pretty easy to reflect on the fact Coach Steele was fired at Clemson and so must not be a good coach. That may be true. On the other hand, he made $700,000/year coaching defense at Alabama the past couple of years and did not get fired, so perhaps he knows a thing or two about his business.
I'm glad LSU has him and we don't, but he has been a highly successful defensive coach.

obviously wanted to keep his D very similar cause Chavis and Steele run the same stuff... Steele won't have to implement his system... Cause they already run it

Your 2010 defense under Steele finished 19th in total defense and 13th in scoring defense on a 6-7 team. That's pretty impressive.
Your 2011 defense was just young, look what it eventually grew into this year.
It's the same thing our fans are doing with whammy. We had a bad year this year but it's what happens. Coaching can't always overcome talent and experience.

But that doesn't mean you have the players that can execute.
It's no different than the USC Clemson game this year. We need what to do, our players just couldn't get it s

seeing as how neither guy was able to stop the jet sweep pass.
WVU just scored again. Artavis Scott just scored again.
See the similarities? I hope Whammy is made into a permanent DC at USuCk.

And he was a good coach for the most part. The problem was that his system was too complex and players had trouble understanding it. Too often we saw defensive players looking over to the sideline before the snap with their hands out in confusion. He did very well against a pro-style offense (VT) but struggled against a spread offense (WV). I think if he makes his system less complex, Which i think he has, then he will be fine at LSU.

Fans need to find someone to blame and that someone is almost always a coach. Kevin Steele is a good coach, the 2011 D just wasn't very good. The Orange Bowl outcome left Dabo with no choice but to make a change. I also believe that Steele and Dabo had some philosophical differences about the hurry up offense that we were running.
