I'm thinking that maybe Tre should've returned

He had a good year, but not great. He definitely would've helped the Tigers this coming season, and may have developed into a beast. Hindsight...

Tre should have definitely stayed one more year, but I’m excited to see our linebacking core this year. We will be more athletic across the board. More speed out there than previous years before. Joseph and lamar were good linebackers but not necessarily fleet footed. Mike jones, chad smith, shaq smith, jake Venables are all athletic and can run. The one I wanted to see the most tore his acl but he should be ready to go by August hopefully.

If he's already had surgery, he can start rehab within several weeks, which means he can build his knee to being stronger than it was before. Think,, he has four months of intensive rehab before the Fall season even begins. There is no reason whatever that he wouldn't be able to participate in fall practices. He will have a new knee. Just saying.

It usually takes more than 6 months to get back to normal.

I tend to agree. Many of these players don't seem to realize the huge risk involved in leaving early and not making it. Hard to come back from that.

If he’s not getting drafted this year...

How can another year at the top program in the nation, another chance to work hard, get better, and prove his worth on the field, NOT help his draft status?

Well not getting drafted is hindsight. I'm sure he was aware

he wasn't getting drafted on day 1 or 2, but i doubt he knew he would go UFA (if that's indeed the case).
And unless he can get smaller, faster, and more agile, his situation wouldn't be much/any different next year. I doubt that's going to happen given his body type.
He's likely going to land somewhere as an UFA, so hopefully he can work hard and make a roster as a situational LB that they can use on more likely running downs.

He wouldn't have been playing behind one the greatest defensive lines ever this season. Could have been part of his thought process.

Back in the scouts eyes will be the same next year - he’s not going to really be able improve on that - might as well go ahead and try to prove them wrong and make a club- easy to go back and finish a year of school - too many people are over dramatic about that

Good lord why do people think this.. he isn’t getting any faster with an extra year. That is his problem and another year in college wouldn’t help. He ran a slower 40 than dexter Lawrence and will never be able to cover people in space.

Yeah nobody is taking a LB who ran a 4.95 and a 4.97. That is terrible.
