If we are that tight at WR- isn’t it time to get rid of some walk on caliber and in stellatos case- injury prone dudes and make room on the roster for proven WR’s?

Dabo doesn’t work that way. He’s committed to them until they graduate as long as they are doing their part. He’s not going to take it out on the kids that are injury prone or the ones they missed in evaluation.

The walk-on level guys- we saw what having them take up scholarships from potential transfer left us with for two years now. But I guess you can’t measure what upholding that ethic does to the whole team

If you would, please list all the original walk-ons who are now receiving full fb scholarships.

They’re only awarded for that year, and typically occurs during summer workouts as an award. Therefore, if an available scholarship is not awarded, it would be wasted that upcoming season.

There’s more to it. You have to use all scholarships in the fall in order to bring in the early enrollees as mid-year replacements.

He really doesn't operate that way but, at some point he has to realize that his #1 job at Clemson is being the HC bc that is what he was hired to do. I could be wrong, but I don't think it was in his contract as the FB HC that he had to be a professor of education. I see and I understand that the graduation numbers being important but, his #1 job I believe should be to do what's best to make the FB team the very best that it could be, and to do that he must cull out the players that are dead weight or injury Pron. He is being paid $11 mil a year to win championships at the highest level, and National Championships is that level. If Dabo can win NC and keep the dead weight at the same time, then everybody should be OK with the way that he does things, but that hasn't been the case the past several years, and most believe that the #1 issue has been bc of WR failure, and a spring cleaning maybe past due....

" most believe that the #1 issue has been bc of WR failure, "
Really, I thought most thought it was DJU's ability to throw screen passes into the dirt. Or to throw downfield 15 feet over receivers' heads. WRs need to have at least a CHANCE to put their hands on the ball before it becomes their fault the pass is incomplete.

his #1 job I believe should be to do what's best to make the FB team the very best that it could be, and to do that he must cull out the players that are dead weight or injury Pron. I agree with a lot of your points, but offer a different perspective on the portion above. His #1 job (I believe) is to develop boys into successful young men, and football is the mechanism he uses to do that. Lots of coaches have this philosophy and fail miserably both on, and off, the field. Dabo has been very successful with both.
On the field, the success speaks for itself. Off the field, I am confident a lot of that dead weight (from your perspective) has had success in their lives after football, because of Dabo.
We have a program I am VERY PROUD OF, even when we don't make the CFP every year.
Go Tigers!

Agree. He was such a stud!! Honestly a step up from renfrow. I hope he has a breakout year. Been a long time since he played football so it will be a tough adjustment. It’s amazing how quickly amari rodgers healed compared to Stellatto.

While I would like to see the roster better managed with regards to walk in’s, I do believe Dabo has earned the privilege to run the program as he sees fit.
Keep in mind the walk ons are ONLY for one year. We have seen walk ons not have their scholarship renewed due to lack of availability.
Additionally, the value of Dabo’s approach and overall team culture is extremely difficult to quantify.
I too get frustrated sometimes when a highly rated recruit is unable to sign due to numbers and there are walk ons on the team. Just keep in mind that most of these high profile recruits fell in love with Clemson’s CULTURE and the families love the 99% graduation rate.
If Dabo ever changes his philosophy, then the culture also changes and likely many of these recruits never sign.
There’s a lot of value in Dabo’s approach in landing recruits, but I am absolutely convinced he sticks with it because it’s the RIGHT way to run a program.
Dabo never has run of a recruit due to injury, and I hope he never will.

Stellato has had some bad injuries, but Staley is nothing compared to him if he gets and stays healthy. Stellato was possibly the fastest player in the country his year. That's why Ohio State threw themselves at him. If he still has that, no SC kid has that speed.

Staley came out and said Clemson is no longer an option. I'm assuming either the coaches told him there's no more room or he doesn't want to have to compete with the commits we just got. I lean towards the latter cause from what posts I've seen of his in the past sound like he's a ME first guy. But I could be wrong.

At 11 ,usually carrying only 10 .it'looks" like the staff is already planning on losing 3 by taking 2.
Whether a SR isn't allowed to take COVID year, injured wr takes medical. baseball guy moves on AFTER next Spring, someone moves back to DB, or someone leaves early after a great season,or leaves when passed on the DC, the Coaches got this.

Wow. Where to start. Proven WRs? Taylor and Staley are in HS. Same as a 4* Stellato was. As mentioned already, commitments mean something at Clemson. Why there are so few issued…they are “commitable”. If those two wait and get passed by, it’s on them. I think Clemson will take 3…possibly 4 WRs. And let’s play the “what if” game. If Dabo were going to boot scholly with players for two more WRs, their names are Matthews, Wingo, and Coleman.

It's not all Stellato or the walk-ons. Who figured on Ladson being a bust and a transfer? Ngata and Beau Collins not able to stay on the field for more than a few games at a time? I don't know about the work ethic/ relationship to DJU. These three were the heirs to guys now in, or at least competed, in the NFL. Stellato has seemed to have had a really bad, forgive the pun, break. Hopefully, we seem him this year. We do have some guys in the works who seem to be picking up the slack. The transfer portal has a couple gems every year, but we don't seem to have the nil for them. Oh well.....

Wouldn't it be unethical to take a scholarship from a player who was injured at Clemson? That is a bad look--not Dabo-like.
