Worst calls against Clemson in History

Mar 8, 2015, 10:58 AM

went back and watch the espn3 replay of that botched call yesterday. i was there in person and it was clear the ball was not caught, maybe some question as to whether fair or foul, but i could tell from my seat it was not caught. not sure if that would have had any effect on the final outcome, but we were hosed. replay clearly shows it hit the chalk my question is this, do all teams feel like they get screwed by the refs? i am guessing yes, but it seems like we get our fair share. what are the worst called against clemson across the board in all sports? a few in random order

1- maryland 1985 or so, play clock runs out then the twerp drops the ball. unreal.
2 - the duke clock fiasco was maybe the worst in my mind
3 - duke in the acc tournament when two straight charge/block calls went against us.
4 - the run of phantom holding calls against tech for a couple of years when we scored a TD

others?

Any clemson basketball game played in chapel hill. Ok that is extreme, but there are a couple of games where CU has absolutely gotten hosed by John and his merry band of idiots he hires as refs.

Here's one, 31 to 14 fouls? Really? Seriously?

Wasn't it also in Chapel Hill where we had so many fouls

Like the time in Chapel Hill we had 8 free throws to unc's 31 with most of the 31 shots coming as unc came from behind and later in overtime. We didn't win that one either.

Good one there, muffed the replay too.

Mar 8, 2015, 11:19 AM

not a huge fan of instant replay. takes too much time is the main thing, but my biggest beef is they still don't get the calls right.

granted, all we had to do was inbound the ball. but you are right, no way he gets that shot off.

I remember seeing a replay with the red backboard light on and the ball touching his hand. No good game over

Actually they weren't TDs against GT, but long pass plays

to Jacoby Ford late in the 4th quarter in close losses
in '08 and '09 that were called back by holding calls
on Thomas Austin. Both these plays could have set up
the winning scores. Eerie that it happened at about the
same time and to the same players 2 years straight and I
think both were called by Ron Cherry.

One was called by Jack Childress and his crew.***

My memory fails me on bad calls, but a neighbor in the

NC mountains was a long-time football ref with the ACC.

He once asked what I thought about officiating in regards to Clemson. I replied, "Is it really true that you refs have no Momma's?"

He laughed heartily, as did I. I might or might not have been joking.

I suppose every fan base alleges bias in officiating, and at times all of us have suspected such. Yet, most of the time our inability to win is due to our lack of ability to win. A bad call may affect the outcome, but that's rare...and has, does and will continue. In that we are no different from any other team in this country.

Why do I hold such views? Because I don't buy into this "us against the world" thinking. Never have, don't now, never will. And I say that knowing that refs out of the ACC never had Momma's. lol

Maryland 1985 is still the worst for me.

After 30 years you would think I'd let it go. Lol

I was sitting in that corner of the end zone. Had a great look at non-catch/catch, and it wasn't even close.

If I had been sitting in the West Stands, maybe it wouldn't have bothered me as much after all these years.

in 2008. Heels won in overtime after we had a big lead on them. Free throw shooting discrepancy was unlike anything I've ever seen. We were 1-7 for the game and they were 31-36. We had 31 fouls to their 14. It was so bad that my friend, who is a huge Heels fan, considers their home unbeaten streak against us to have ended that night. Of course, TV Teddy Valentine was one of the refs that night. Surprisingly, Karl Hess was not.

UGA 1984 no doubt

Mar 9, 2015, 5:24 PM

Clemson v UGA in Athens 1984. Terrence Roulhac went out of bounds with 2 seconds left on the clock that the homers conveniently let run off. Someone put a sign up at the GA line a few days later that said "Now entering the state of Georgia, please set your clock 2 seconds forward"

Great game but start at the 2:00 mark for the awesome kick and then the awful end.
