their major academic institutions would be secure. VT and UVA don't have to stay together. The government would just have to make sure that they weren't left behind (ie, VT had an opportunity to join the SEC).
It's the same mindset that the South Carolina state government should have toward Clemson. Somehow, if the ACC were to fall apart, I don't feel as comfortable with our elected officials in Columbia.

VA and VT are a package deal - both likely to B10 or SEC. UNC and NC State could also go to SEC. We need to go to SEC or Big 12. Thought everything was sewed up til MD bolted. Time to move on or get left out.

the governor pressured uva to get vt in. There is nothing stating they have to stay together. Plus that gov is gone now.

Well you probably know better than me. But again, I thought the ACC had gotten everything buttoned up - and then MD leaves. It is just a matter of time before others leave. All I'm saying is we should leave sooner than later or we get left out.

son is a highly recruited soccer player (not a clemson recruit) He is being told by other ACC schools that are recruiting his son that the SEC is interested in FSU and Clemson simply to keep the Big 10 from going after us and getting a strong foot hold in the southeast.

pulled FSU's informal offer (because they were also in talks with the ACC), the SEC communicated with Clemson through back channels, but we were committed to the ACC and the SEC didn't want to give off the appearance that they were trying to "raid" the ACC.

Well, Clemson needs to jump ship or we need to replace the crap that's leaving with some real competition before all the crap from this conference makes any of our options all crappy......VA Tech will most likely squeeze into the SEC somehow.

Any team mentioned in replacing UMD is also better than UVA. Then again, it's all still rumors at this point. Unless it's FSU , CU or VT , they'll be replaced with better teams.

I use to love it but now I just feel sick. I'm tired of the rumors and back room deals. ACC needs to give ND pressure and a GOR (not likely) or just disolve and start new. I don't like change and I see us getting left out of the party.
