Same here. I have written the Heisman Committee and told them they are no longer qualified since ESPN selects the Heisman winner each year. I also informed them that John Heisman called and wants his trophy back. I'm sure they threw that letter in the trash.

ESPN has no business out right rooting for Alabama kids to

win the Heisman just as Joe Buck should never be close to a US Open or any other golf tournament. He should be FIRED for trying his best, like a spoiled rotten kid throwing a tantrum, because no one agreed with him that Phil should be disquilfied for what he did on 13th green Yesterday. I would not listen to Joe Buck call a Putt- Putt contest if my own child was involved. He has single handedly ruined the US Open coverage.

Ct I feel your frustration. Every time I hear joe buck and Troy Aikman commentate I turn the volume down. I can't stand joe buck.

Just look at the REGULAR season.

Jackson or DW is a great choice. Now, if they counted the playoff. DW should have easily won.

Wonder why they don't pick the winner in January

instead of December. Guess they get more attention and advertising $$ right after the regular season and before the bowls. DW would have been the favorite in January 2017.
And before you say they would just pick the best player on the best team in January, that's what they did anyway in 2015 with Derrick Henry.

The ' tradition' has to be changed, since the best player is not really supposed to be from the best team. (I think the Heisman winner has only been on the NC team about 10% of the time.) But because it's always been given before the bowls, there's another 10% of winners who played for the team that lost the de facto NC game. And now that so many good players are opting not to play in the postseason unless they are in the CFP, the Heisman has no real motivation to change.
If the Manning Award were not just for QBs, I think it would come to supersede the Heisman, since it's the only award to include postseason play in its consideration.

Re: Except they voted before January.***

Well, the travesty of Lamar Jackson's selection was that most voters cast their ballots 2-3 weeks early--and Louisville's offense got crushed those last two games (and in the bowl game, too).
Deshsaun's detractors said that even with DW4 playing great at season's end, at best all he did statistically was approach LJ's numbers.
Unfortunately there is precedent for Heisman voters to be that pigheaded, since DW4's greatness didn't become obvious to pigs until the postseason, when only the Manning people care.
That's why DW4 is the only 2-time Manning Award winner.
I know it's sacrilege to a sportswriter, but they should have created a new award just for DW4. He was that transcendent of a player.

No Clemson player has ever won the Heisman

...and the same is true of all the other schools where Heisman coached. Except Auburn.
7 out of the 8 have never won.
And I don't think Dabo's team concept helps his players win, since sportswriters today are 1. Lazy 2. Stats-oriented 3. Bandwagoners and 4. ESPN-programmed.
Now I can see Trevor getting it partly due to a penance vote for wronging DW4, but otherwise he's going to have to get lucky, cause Dabo won't let him throw for 50 TDs just to feed the sportswriters their version of red meat.

No kidding — anybody who thinks Lamar Jackson was better than DeShaun Watson needs their head examined by a real professional

He won something better. A National Championship. He won that on the field and showed why he was the best. Not some gimmick boy ESPN was in love with.
