If PJ is in, Manek goes to the line because you know the refs would call a foul.

Your best player wants to be in the game at crunch time. A good average, or bad coach would want the same thing. I really don't know what Brownell was thinking. His explanation is incoherent. Maybe he and Joe need to take that cognitive test.

There have been so many of them. I guess I need to ask the Clemson administration. They don't seem to remember/know of any of them.

I, especially, disliked the "coach" throwing his player under the bus. Maybe, had he gotten better coaching all along, he would have made a better decision, if that really were the problem.

Cuz he’s spread out and taken to wearing sweat suits since it was taken.
We’re a half game ahead of gt for twelfth in the acc two thirds of the way through the season. Judge keller asked another poster preseason to let him know when a brownell team underperforms. Does this qualify?

Man if we’re in such bad shape that we lose to that team at home at the end of the season . . . could mean Brad is plus another 30 and wearing a dress on the bench

I'd say Judge would/should consider this team as underperforming. I am quick to say that underperforming goes right back to coaching, and this team is better than this.

The play to Manek was a great play and they would have either scored or gone to the line. We don't like anything about the Blue teams but Hubert Davis played for and coached for 2 of the greatest coaches of all time and learned well.

Hubert David won’t last more than 3 seasons at UNC. Sadly Brad may very well still be coaching Clemson at that point in time.

Surprise, Surprise, Surprise??? How is it a coach after the game can accurately see the cause of a loss, but can Never learn from it to Not repeat it??? Fellow Tigers this is Coach Brownell! So Tiger Nation do we just continue to accept that he's a really good guy therefore, we continue to invest millions in someone who has demonstrated they cannot learn???

This would be like Dabo pulling Boulware out on the ND 2 point conversion. I rarely question our coaches but I just cannot make any sense of this.

What’s the thought process behind this?! I’ve never understood the blind cheerleaders. I never will. I bet you supported Ken Hatfield up until he was gone and probably said: “ once a Tiger always a Tiger and I’ll pull for you as long as you’re not playing us.” I don’t get it. I was calling for his job after season two. Seeing obvious issues with the team you love isn’t a bad thing. Heck, if everyone thought like you’re, Bowden would still be coaching the football team. Think if it as a ceo of the company you have EVERYTHING invested in. If they make a bad decision, you better call them out. Or, your wife. If she starts messing up, you’d be sure to point that out! Why not a coach?! They aren’t infallible. They don’t always know best. Case in point: Kelly Bryant started three games too many before Lawrence was put in. Was Dabo right then? Starting a mediocre QB while benching a legendary QB for that span? He only went on to win a national championship as a freshman. My point is, you have a responsibility to hold the administration responsible for supporting the worst coach in the ACC. Brownell made the tournament more on Oliver Purnell’s players than he has with his own. He had his chance and then some. Are you a sheep or a Tiger? Act like a Tiger!

Who are you talking to? I said I rarely question our coaches but don’t understand keeping Hall out of the game at the end. If you’re talking to me you sure A$$umed a whole lot from that comment. But for the record IMO Dabo handled the KB/TL transition perfectly. Sure turned out well. I do my job without criticism from a football or basketball coach or AD that doesn’t have any experience in my field and I extend the same courtesy to those folks to do their job. Not my job to evaluate coach’s performance. But as I said I don’t understand the decision to keep Hall on the bench at the end of the game. You are entitled to your opinion as well.

He obviously knows way more than me about basketball

But it seems to me that the "Take him out so he doesn't foul out and is available for potential OT" line of thinking might make a bit more sense if UNC was down and was playing to tie the game late. But in the situation they were in they were going to run the clock down to get the likely last shot and if there is a foul on Hall late then likely they're making FT's to (likely) win and end the game.

If he took all 5 players out, there would be no way we could foul them. And we would get the ball back with more time on the clock. Come on Brad... think out of the box!!!

The Brownell resume: Blow another good lead (up by 11 I believe) and play just good enough to lose another close game. Blame players for poor coaching decisions.

No excuses that can be justified are available IMO. The 4th foul on Hall was a poor call in that situation, but it was a foul…worst part Bacot had just fouled out and hopefully Tigers could have run some time off the clock. I don’t think they played the screens right even half the time. It was stupid not to have PJ in the game, but to run a 3 point play for Collins is just horrific & mind boggling.

In fairness to Brad, there is a chance Hall would try to psych the crowd up which would look bad if we lost.

I wonder if he thought about throwing his player under bus and taking a great player out for final play last night ….. “dang that was stupid” after he got home.

I took out our best player with 4 blocks so he couldn't protect the rim. Collins made a mental error so we set up a great out of bounds play for Collins to win the game with a 3, because he is our best 3 pt shooter. There, I fixed it. COACHING
