2013 FOOTBALL STARTING LINE-UP..........
Feb 8, 2013, 12:56 AM
|
|
Below are my OFFENSIVE predictions for the 2013 starting line-up, I will post my DEFENSIVE predictions next week...
LT/LG/C/RG/RT:
Battle/Beasly/Norton/Shatley/Timothy
The changes I foresee on the OL are Isaiah Battle getting a lot snaps, after the way he stepped up in the Bowl game and also after the way he has impressed in practice. I also think that Ryan Norton will be a great replacement for Dalton Freeman(One of the best OL in Clemson history). The OL was a weakness at points in the season last year, but after another year in the weight room along with only losing One starter, this OL could become strength for the Tigers!
Fun Fact: Tyler Shatley is the strongest player on the team!
Player to watch: The PTW for the OL is Isaiah Battle. He has really impressed and will definitely push for playing time next year.
QB:
Tajh/Stoudt/Kelly/McElveen
Not much change here, and when you have a Heisman caliber QB, you wouldn't expect any. The big question going into spring is who will fall behind Tajh on the depth-chart? Expect a great battle between the veteran Stoudt and the ever talented Chad "Swag" Kelly !
Fun Fact: Tajh Boyd holds the record for most TD passes is ACC and Clemson History!
Player to watch: The PTW for QB is Chad Kelly. After his skill almost impressed enough to avoid a RS last year, the young RS Fr. from NY will certainly give Cole Stoudt a run for his money. RB:
Dye/McDowell/Brooks/Howard
Here is the first surprise in my predictions. I have Tyshon Dye getting the start. At 6'0 215 and running a 4.4 40yd dash, this kid just is oozing with potential! Not to be forgotten is "Hot" Rod McDowell. He had a great year last year backing up Andre, and I think he could have an even bigger impact in 2013! Also I that Zac Brooks will have an impact in small yardage situations, and as the year goes on he will gain more and more playing time!
Fun Fact: Zac Brooks is the only player from Arkansas on Clemson's roster!
Player to watch: Tyshon Dye would be the obvious answer, but the PTW for RB is DJ Howard , he is kind of the odd man out for the RB corps. He had a great Fr. year but due to injury's was really set back last year. Expect his competitive drive to kick in during Spring practice and make a real push for playing time.
Slot WR:
Bryant/Humprhies/Seckinger
Martavis Bryant has struggled with confidence and academic troubles in the past, but 2013 will be his Break-Out year. It seems like Adam Humphries can play just about any position, but he will definitely help make up for the loss of Jaron Brown. Stanton Seckinger may not be well known to many, but he has impressed in practice and is ready to contribute in 2013!
Fun Fact: Adam Humphries cross-trained to play DB for the Bowl game!
Player to watch: The Slot WR PTW is Martavis Bryant. He is the fastest player on the team, and look for him to become one of Tajh's top targets in 2013.
#1 WR
Watkins/Hopper
No changes here. Expect Germone Hopper to impress after red-shirting in 2012!
Fun Fact: Sammy's brother Jaylan, plays for Florida!
Player to watch: The PTW for #1 WR is Germone Hopper. He is a RS Fr. and will really make an impact on ST.
#2 WR
Peake/Williams/Porter
Many people believe that Mike Williams will start from day 1, as he has the same playing style as Nuk Hopkins. I do think that he will get a large amount of playing time, but I think that Charone Peake will start and will blossom into a star in 2013. Matt Porter originally a walk-on has made an impression on coaches during practice, and I think he will begin to inch up the depth-chart in 2013!
Fun-Fact: Mike Williams was the #1 South Carolina WR in the 2013 recruiting class!
Player to watch: Charone Peake was a 5* WR in the 2011 recruiting class, and has struggled with confidence in the past, but this year he will break-out and start to live up to his potential.
TE
Cooper/McCullough/Marshall/Legget
Sam Cooper is ready to take over for Brandon Ford in 2013, and continue the line of TE at Clemson. TE is a big position to play in The Chad's offense and Sam Cooper and Jay Jay McCollough, are both physical guys. I'm not sure if Legget will RS or not so that is why I have him listed!
Fun Fact: Sam Cooper has a nice Mustache! http://www.clemsontigers.com/PhotoAlbum.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=28500&SPID=103701&SPSID=657772&BIO_PLAYER_ID=824342&KEY=
Player to watch: Jay Jay McCullough, with Eric Mac Lain moving to OT Jay Jay moved up the depth-chart, and he is a great run blocker, who is built more like a WR!
Darrel Smith plays FB, which is not a big position in The Chad's offense. But he makes key blocks and catches a pass every now and then comming out of the back-field!
THANK-YOU for reading!
What do y'all think? Any changes you would have made?
GO TIGERS!!!!!!!!

I think you have Battle in the right place. I'd expect Thomas to go back to the guard position and start over Beasley. The rest I agree on.
Hot Rod will be our starting RB. Also, with DJ and Zach on board, Dye will have to really show out to avoid a RS.

If Dye was already on campus. Those guys that came in January have a real leg up. The guys that don't report until June might not get the play book down. That's the only thing holding him back. I think the surprise will be Hopper starts. Starting WR:
#1 WR Sammy #2 WR Martavis #3 WR Hopper

I like btw nice job on the break down LT: Battle LG: Beasley C: Norton RG: Shatley RT: B. Thomas. Pretty much the Bowl OL after Gif went out with the injury and the shuffle worked very well also Norton is gonna be a good one.

A couple changes
Feb 8, 2013, 7:50 PM
|
|
I like battle at LT but thomas would start at RT. Bryant isnt a slot WR he would be on the outside in nuks spot. Hopper will be as lot a role just like sammy had, I imagine sammy will move arround a lot playing multiple positions trying to keep defenses from doubling him but the top 3 on the field will be bryant peake and sammy

Nice post, thanks for the effort. BTW, I think Jay Jay McCullough will be starting by midpoint next year. Everything I've read and heard about him says he's like a more athletic Dwayne Allen.
