on flashes of potential. I believe if Trevor continues to progress at a steady pace, and cut down on some poor decisions, he gets that kind of money.

Let's not forget, he has had to overcome the REGRESSION that happened in that abomination of a season under Urban Meyer. I can't overemphasize this, I truly believe that Doug Peterson has saved Trevor's career. I don't know if any other coach could have come in and turned things around as quickly as he did.

I think what he did, and most pundits seem to agree, is to say to Trevor, "OK, THIS season coming up is your rookie season. Forget all that mess that went on around here last year, you are now going to play pro football for the first time." And, as ETN has joked more than once, if HE had to miss a whole year, he sure picked the best one imaginable to miss.

I will give Urban Meyer credit for one thing, and that was, drafting both Trevor and ETN. He knew that they could continue to complement each other on the field, and that their familiarity with each other would make the transition to pro football easier for both of them. Butt, that's about where Urbane ran out of plan.

He will. It's just how the NFL works. Look at Daniel Jones. I know a lot of people have some hate for Tom Brady but I hope one of these guys follows his lead from his Patriots days. The Patriots never had a lot of high end contract guys but they had some of the best depth in the NFL at almost every position. You can't do that on a roster with a giant contract strapped around the neck of the franchise.

I'm an Atlanta fan. I love Matt Ryan. Easily my favorite Falcon of all time. When the Falcons got handcuffed by his deal, especially once it got paired with Julio's extension, they struggled to build a roster with any depth and it killed their roster building. Kansas City has been dancing around the same issue with Mahomes. They had a lot of rookie deal guys over performing. The core of that offense has been Mahomes and Kelce. They haven't been able to build any quality depth and this year it is killing them. Well, that and not playing Justyn Ross early but I'm biased there.

I hope Trevor picks up the phone and asks Brady if the championships were worth taking less money all those years. I hope everybody gets every cent but I'd rather win. At some point, what is the difference between 30 and 50 million as far as lifestyle and comfort? I'll never know but it doesn't seem like a lot.
