tournament next year?
Is it unrealistic to expect us to?
The first one is tough and the second one is a no.

At least a bubble team but if enough players step their game and the three frosh can ajust to the college game could be a solid tourney team...

Going into this season, we lost most of our production
Apr 22, 2014, 3:47 PM

from 2012-2013 since Booker and Jennings graduated. We didn't know how we would improve on our poor season last year, and had no idea who would step up. But players did, and we not only equaled the production from 2012-2013, but improved dramatically.
K.J. certainly leaves big shoes to fill, but we will make up for that production elsewhere. It will almost certainly be by committee, but I see Nnoko, Hall, and Roper increasing their play. Blossomgame will also improve, as will Ajukwa. I also expect the new guys (Rooks, DeVoe, and Grantham) to have their moments as well.
NCAAs or bust in 2014-2015!

do you think the guys on the team will play much better

without KJ or do you think the incoming freshmen are that good? i don't see how we'll he better than we were this year. there are some good role players on the team, but i don't know if any of them can step up and fill the shoes KJ leaves behind. i guess we'll see.

KJ isn't the only player on the roster who is capable of improving. all of our players have high ceilings.
Sidy's numbers were comparable to Landry's from 2 years ago. If (and I expect he will) he takes the same leap that Landry did, then we will have the best front court in the ACC.
Hall is what every program wants in a PG. Butler #### near won a NC with a tough, hard nosed kid names Mack (Mack a better shooter than Rod though).
Blossomgame and Landry will block their fare share of shots.
The offense will only get better as the players develop their skill sets and get more adequate at the multiple reads that Brownell's motion system requires.

i do think the team became overly dependent on KJ

this year. they deferred to him far too often and when he wasn't "on" the game became stagnant. hopefully, each will grow and pick up the slack KJ leaves behind, as you seem to feel they will. i do see potential. but that's all it is right now. harrison had some nice runs in games, but overall very inconsistent. blossomgame was also inconsistent. i know he's battled injuries, but so far he has not lived up to expectations. nnoko has been a pleasant surprise. i think he has grown a lot and will only get better. a lot rides on the shoulders of the incoming players. there are certainly holes to fill on this team, and i believe they will be given a fair chance. at least i hope so.

The target is much tougher to acquire without KJ. Face it folks--he was generally 1/3 of the CU scoring punch all year. Maybe more than that in some critical games. We needed two additional dependable scorers in past season. Got to hope Rooks, Roper, and the two new gents will pick up the pace. Hall and Harrison can fill some of the void against certain teams but not every time out.

Brad needs to make an ALL OUT push for Brown, this kid has MAD SKILLS. He would really help our team next year, along with the 2 others we have coming in. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcPSaJW8j7Q

It will depend on 2 things:
Apr 22, 2014, 5:10 PM
|
|
1. How much and how soon will Rooks, Grantham, and DeVoe contribute. At least a couple of these guys will have to be playing at a pretty high level come ACC play.
2. How much our competition improves from this year. Last season was a little down for the ACC. If the competition is better next season, then we'll have to be that much better to make the dance. We could conceivably be better, and still not make it.
We'll miss KJ, but we're solid with guys like Nnoko, Harrison, Hall, Roper, and Ajukwa. I look for Djitte and Djambo to step their game up a notch. Losing KJ hurts, but a guy leaving early for the NBA can't hurt recruiting going forward.
