Will DJ be our first Heisman winner?
Jul 5, 2021, 9:32 AM

We’ve had two QBs who could have, and probably should have, won. I think one of the reasons was that Dabo doesn’t needlessly run up the score and usually our starter is sitting midway through the third quarter
I know we’ll play other guys to get them reps and to take DJ out of harms way, which is smart. However, since there likely will be a dramatic drop off in talent and we’re probably not prepping the next guy to be the future this year, DJ may be able to put up gaudy numbers like some of his Heisman competition.
I would much prefer less risk of injury to our players and the opportunity to play for a championship over an individual award, but this year may offer us the opportunity for both
We’ll see in two months

Nope. Not as long as ESPN determines who wins it and this has been going on for years. The Heisman Committee is laughable and I have sent them letters stating so since they robbed DW.

but I’m going to be a glass half full guy. I believe, and will predict, that he will win, either this year or next.

I think he has a shot John ... of course he needs to smoke UGA and the ACC and stay healthy.
Dabo may also decide he wants a Heisman winner at Clemson and change his style to make it happen.

Trevor Lawrence smoked Bama, DW4 beat Bama, and what did that do for them with getting the one trophy they deserved bc they were true Heisman players, and both were dis ed, just like it was done with CJ Spiller. Most voters don't know have a clue to who John Heisman was, or what he meant to college FB, and even less knew that he was a HC for Clemson FB. But none of them know the true meaning of the John Heisman Trophy!!!

After the death of John

You know all Heisman votes are made and counted before bowl games? Correct?

I think that is clearly what disadvantaged Watson. Jackson had unbelievable numbers and should have been the clear frontrunner 3/4 through the season. However, those last three games weren't pretty for the Cards, while Watson was leading Clemson to a National Championship.

Watson & Jackson had schedules that allowed for it, though. The ACC was simply more competitive back then.
DJU is elite. But it's no conspiracy; it's "moments" that make up a Heisman campaign.
This year, we just don't have those opportunities after the UGA game.
Beating Alabama in the regular season seems to determine the Heisman more than most factors.
I say let's schedule them again.

in great detail.
I assumed that the two month reference would be understood to mean the start of the football season and we would begin our journey. I think I will know more in two months than I do now, but you are probably technically correct as the knowledge pertains to the Heisman race. I also would have substituted than for as but that’s just me

Trophy has been meaningless for years. Just another excuse for an awards show and hype. Win championships brings true immortality and bragging rights.

Yes, he will be.
He’s going to wow people that aren’t familiar with him, which is most of the cfb world. They’ve heard of him and maybe they even watched him @ND, but I doubt they realize how freakishly gifted he is. His arm talent is electric, like better than 75% of NFL starters right now, if not more.
I truly believe we have the best player in the country on both sides of the ball with him and Bresee.

That award has come to mean so little to me personally after watching CJ Spiller, DW4, and Trevor getting shanked, disrespected, that I hope that no Clemson player will ever have their name added to that P O S trophy, seriously!!!

Nah.
WHEN Clemson wins the Heisman, we'll be ready to celebrate it.
I guarantee it. We will ALL care, & it will be remarkable.

The only way a Clemson wins is if he’s head and shoulders above everyone else in stats. The media doesn’t seem to push our dudes.

It is not an award to the best player. It is more of a popularity contest. None of the voters have Clemson ties.

I never liked that argument.
For example, many of them have ties AGAINST other programs, including programs that have finally won them in spite of those disadvantages.
Plus we were in the closest voting in the Heisman's history.
We WILL win a Heisman. It won't be this year, but when it comes, we WILL celebrate winning a Heisman here at Clemson.

Simple answer is nope! Does not matter if DJ was the only starter that was left at the end of the year- with 10,000 yards, 600 TD's and 0 picks- save the world from invading aliens from outer space while curing he world of all enemies, he would come up two votes shy.

There’s no doubt in my mind that DJ will be Clemson’s first Heisman trophy winner. He has all the intangibles to be every bit as good or better than Boyd, Watson and Lawrence.
