Why would you go for 2 points when it’s late 4th qtr and you’re up big?

Remember the 2015 Clemson v UNC ACCCG when UNC moaned they were cheated out of the win by a erroneous offside call on an onside kick attempt? Well, Dabo remembers!!

Harken back to tOSU coach (boxer??) Woody Hayes. 1968 game and Michigan is losing to OSU 44-14 late in the fourth quarter of the
rivalry showdown. Buckeyes score and go for the 2pt conversion - but don’t make it. Score 50-14.

When asked about his decision by reporters after the game, Hayes said he went for two "because I couldn't go for three."

There is your answer - Dabo went for two points because he couldn’t go for three!!

Go Tigers!

Good story about Hayes, shows his desire to beat the heck out of Michigan.

Someone posted in a thread about a week ago that the 2 pointer gave us a three score lead. So, Dabo was doing it to seal the victory rather than pile on.

It was 30-10.
Kick it = 31-10.
Go for it = 32-10.

All three scenarios = 3 score lead. Whoever posted what you referenced above is wrong.

Who cares about piling on points on the Heals?

I loved it. Get back in line baby blues.

I think he did because the week before we lost to USuC and they had 31 points. He didn’t want to have 31 points.

It was probably predetermined as a deal with the defense. Been a part of many teams where this happens. Defense if you score a TD we are going for two. Most of the time it’s chaotic when the defense scores so running a fake to get two catches other teams off guard.

Too bad the Tigers didn't go for 2 after the D scored against USuC. I guess that point was really needed there.

I didn't go back and look at the the 'hole's alignment on PAT's from the previous scores, but my thought at the time was that it was just a situational thing.

"If you see this alignment, you have the green light".

Maybe it was something they noticed on film or, it makes even more sense if it was something they noticed from the previous PAT's. Maybe they rushed the same way leaving a huge hole.

I mean - the Sea was parted for an untouched two point conversion.

Non-issue anyway...

Risky play, could get nothing out of it. Defense should lick chops at opportunity. Same with passing with a big lead. I'd rather a team blowing me out pass b/c I've got a better opp to get the ball back and / or stop clock. And added to all this, it's just another opp' for both teams to grow in situational f'ball. Likewise, in basketball, if a team is ahead by 30, pressing the other team is all of the above reasons, pretty much the same. Big opp' for the weaker team. Esp and Ollie Purnell type press that broke down a lot late and gave up easy layups.
