Why no more arrests in rock case?

Did CuPD and Sled just pack up and go home after Micah Rogers was arrested. Last time I checked 3 people took the rock not just one.

what really is the point. Put thousands of dollars into finding these guys to charge them with almost nothing. These will take a class and pay a small fine and this will have never happened.

Dear Tigernet Legal Scholars,

This 18 year old, with no criminal history, is charged with a felony that carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison. Please tell me what other offense under the SC code you would charge him with...
Also, before you say "the rock was worth more than $10,000," let me remind you that the value of a rock, even Howard's Rock, is a very difficult thing to assess, especially when the burden is on the State to prove the value beyond a reasonable doubt.
Also, my understanding of the offense is that the value is determined, not based on the value of the property damaged, but on the amount of damage caused to the property.
With all that said, I'm not a "Micah Rogers sympathizer." In fact, I think he should be charged with a 10 year felony. I think he should be charged under sec. 16-17-600, which makes it a crime to "damage a memorial or monument commemorating a deceased person or persons." This is a felony, carrying a max penalty of 10 years and I believe it is appropriate here, as the last time I checked, the Rock is a monument, and Coach Howard is dead.
One last thing, since I'm offering my 2 cents here, I believe that an appropriate sentence for a dim-witted young man, such as Mr. Rogers, is a short term of incarceration, followed by probation supervision & restitution. He should also be sentenced as a "Youthful Offender" so that if he keeps his nose clean until age 25, this felony doesn't have to follow him the rest of his life.
I'm sure we all feel like capital punishment shouldn't be off the table for damaging The Rock, but let's all try to exercise some reason in this case.

If there was insurance on the rock

they will base it off of that value. If not, then maybe they can reference valuations on other famous rocks (the blarney stone, Plymouth Rock) or objects venerated by college football teams (the "play like a champion today" sign or the "big blue club supports you" banner)

Hope that guy is right. I feel like the severity of this crime is being downplayed by everyone in power. Crazy thing is that if this was a kid selling pot on campus it would be a manhunt until they find him.

I was wondering what would they be charged with if they had stolen the middle finger from the Statue of Liberty. That is a very important finger to those who want to harm us.

Rogers good family lawyer-ed up, and those good Christian folks are pleading the 5th. They don't know nothing, and they have seen nothing. But mostly, they have no idea who the other two were says the 5th.

I know you're trying to be flippant, but isn't the whole point of the 5th Amendment to be able to plead it? Regardless of your religion?

they have been granted asylum in Ecuador. John Kerry was working on getting them extradited but his wife had a seizure while he was wind surfing in Nantucket.

It was his accomplices that turned him in. They did so to save their own hides.

Put the missing piece on ebay and see what it sells for. After that we know what it is worth and what to charge him with
