Why is everyone freaking out the dude going to Georgia,

In my opinion it's not surprising that he went there. They have been recruiting very well for the last few years, even better than before, and they just won the National Championship. They have a lot of excitement around their program. We kind of had a dud year. Hopefully we're in the playoff this next season and running up the score on everyone. We need to build up some excitement.

I don’t see anyone “freaking out”…

But people are asking legitimate questions. Why couldn’t we pull Etienne or Paul. Why would Paul choose UGA over Clemson when UGA is stacked with top tier talent at the RB position guaranteeing he will ride the bench? These are valid questions to think about and discuss.

ETN I am not surprised about, because he probably didn't want to be compared and wanted to do his own thing. ETN wasn't our top choice either. We offered running backs ahead of him. As far as Georgia, because it is Georgia. They have been dominating recruiting for a few years now. They also just won the National Title. They are known for their OL and running the ball. We just had a dud year too. We also have a new OC and the staff has changed some. It's really not that odd. We have some work to do.

Spot on. The answer is very simple and straightforward in this case.

Go back about 3 years and look up posts about Zamir White. Same chite, different year. We’ll be fine.

It has oft been this way with RB’s and GA. Here is a Clemson UGA name that RB game from the era:
Player A was a featured college back and the number one HS recruit in the nation, 5 star out of GA. - in 3 years of college he averaged 5.3 yards per carry and scored a TD every 20 carries on average. He won the Heisman trophy and about every other possible accolade. In the NFL he average 44 yds per game (4 yds/A) and amassed 8200 rushing yards and had 61 TD’s in a 14 year career.
Player B was an obscure, overlooked, undersized recruit from Homer, Ga. Was not highly recruited. Would likely be an unranked recruit these days. Played 3 years in college sharing carries with other backs. Rushed for 5.3 yards per carry and and scored a TD every 18 carries. In the NFL he played 10 seasons and amassed 8600 yds and averaged 66.3 yds per game (4 yds/A).
If it helps player A never found the end zone in Death Valley. Player B often found the end zone in DV. ??. But but but player A won the Heisman. Yes he did, but player B and other RB teammates in a platoon RB situation were just as productive, by the numbers.

No great loss. The reason the guy went to Georgia was Oregon flipped a running back that was going to go to Georgia. That left a spot for this guy at Georgia.

We are returning 3 top quality running backs. Add a couple of recruits and “we plenty deep”

I agree with Mark Packer. Don't get excited about rankings. Wait a few years and see if these guys actually produce on the field. Two years from now they could be riding the bench, on the injury list, or transferred to another program.
