Why has college football become so negative?

Nov 29, 2022, 10:03 AM

130 teams and if you're not "worthy" of being in the top 4 you suck.

I think when we have a legitimate playoff system it will get better. Parity will increase and there will be more games/teams worth watching throughout the season especially towards the end.

The last week or two of football is pretty much meaningless unless you are a handful of teams.

With a 12 teams playoff you will have games with playoff implications all over the place.

Geville Tiger on Clemson football , "Dabo's only problem is he has to deal with turd fans questioning every move he makes.”

Yep. I’m kinda tired of it

The playoff kinda started it. Discussions about the playoff inevitably go to everyone “sucks” or is “overrated”. Even top 10 teams in the nation.

It really is hard to believe

we could end up being mad about an ACC championship and trip to the Orange Bowl.

Crazy times.

It pays the bills. And has destroyed an amazing game.

It’s the same all about me, I want it all right now, instant gratification culture that is prevalent in most places today.

Social media and the ability to spat off with your phone in your hand at any given moment has caused multiple problems with society. When message boards were starting in the 90s you could start to see it slowly becoming negative. Now it’s pretty fast. Not to mention college football is very regional.

It's not just college football, it's pretty much everything.
The cause is the Internet manned by millions of millennials and middle-aged housewives stricken with Dunning Kruger syndrome.

The game is in the process of making three very big changes that will make it a replica of the NFL: NIL, Transfer Portal and 12 Team Playoff. Why for the life of me we would want the college game to emulate the NFL I can’t understand. The short answer is people are greedy for even more money. When you are a business that creates huge amounts of money in sport it seems to come with built-in naysayers. We are heading where we are heading because media types felt a college scholarship wasn’t enough of a reward for the student athletes. We view DJ negatively because recruiting services, an offshoot of the game making sums of money, evaluated him poorly. There are camps, another money making offshoot of the game, where better players go to compete in their underwear to try and improve their star ranking. And then you have those who collect all of the information and talk about it in podcasts or websites to try and quench the team’s fans thirst for more information, again money making offshoots of the game. When the game is more about money than fans pure enjoyment it breeds bitterness. People want to lash out to show their dissatisfaction for the whole kit and kabbuttle. And it starts over every year with new players. Rinse and repeat.

Or maybe it’s negative because our offense sux!!!
