You know who wants to take your guns?

Jun 19, 2015, 12:54 AM

No one, but the gun manufacturers love the story. I find it funny that Obama has literally done nothing to disarm people. Hell, in Texas you now have open carry pretty much everywhere. You don't even need training or a licence, but if you ask the average Texan, they will tell you Obama is coming for their guns. He's got 2 years left, so if he is going to start disarming people he better hurry up.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Well, the libs have banned guns in liberal enclaves

Jun 19, 2015, 7:39 AM

such as Chicago.

See how much good its doing there?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Federal judge ruled that unconstitutional in Chicago.***

Well, that's just a load of horse #####

Jun 19, 2015, 9:24 AM

Just because it hasn't happened doesn't mean that isn't the intention, it's been stated multiple times, by multiple people in positions of power. Sorry brah, but the gun control crowd played their hand after Sandy Hook, the cats out of the bag now, we all know what the end game is.

The game plan is to take every tragedy as an opportunity to push for gun control, and that's precisely what happens.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Interesting thing is...the bill proposed after Sandy Hook...

Jun 19, 2015, 9:27 AM

would have had no impact in the Charleston shooting, assuming reports that it was a reg magazine 45 that was given to him by his father.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

However, had they been able to sway some public

opinion then, and gotten the bill passed, we'd be talking about expanding the regulations to ban hand guns now. The narrative would be "Nobody wants to take your rifles or shotguns for home defense or hunting, but this is for the good of the country" or some such B.S.

They're never trying to take anything away from you....until they do.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I don't disagree, my point was that the level of....

Jun 19, 2015, 9:49 AM

"gun control" being talked about now is not germane to this discussion, since it was going after "assault-type" weapons, high capacity magazines, etc...even the private sale part wouldn't have been applicable since it was a gift (reported so far) from his father.

By the way...if the story on the gun being a gift is true, I hope they bring up the father on charges too...I'm sure they will.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

What politician has ever been a proponent of taking

Jun 19, 2015, 9:50 AM [ in reply to However, had they been able to sway some public ]

rifles/shotguns away in this country? Has there ever been one?

Handguns have always been the issue as far as some requesting a ban and that's only been in our biggest cities.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There was a lot of talk about banning semi-auto's

Jun 19, 2015, 9:54 AM

which would have included many rifles. While I can't necessarily name one off the top of my head who has specifically said all guns, I don't think it's a stretch to think that is the case, particularly since most of the proposals would have done very little in the way of curbing gun violence. I think that has less to do with wanting to create a safer environment for the public, and more to do with chipping away and gun rights as a whole.

Jun 19, 2015, 10:32 AM

Want the public to have them. There are a variety of motives, some just don't like guns, others I'm sure see them as an obstruction to control.

Obstruction to control? Come on be serious. When you

Jun 19, 2015, 10:36 AM

have the U.S. Military behind you as the Federal govt. does, ain't no one seeing gun owners as any kind of serious threat to total control, even if anyone in Washington wanted total control which no one does.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You really think that?

Jun 19, 2015, 10:50 AM

Particularly that nobody in Washington wants total control?

And I think we've got ample evidence to support the fact that just because you have a technologically advanced military, like we do, doesn't mean you can go about conquering whoever you want. I absolutely think many see it as an obstruction to control, how else do you explain the ever increasing militarization of our police forces? If guns and gun owners were not viewed as a serious threat, as you say, why the need for all of the military hardware?

Jun 19, 2015, 11:11 AM

terrorism.

You seem to think, incorrectly, that they want total control just to have total control, and that there aren't legitimate reasons, rightly or wrongly, behind it.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-jospehg.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Can you come up with any political scenario that involves gun control being passed? Even with democrats holding the house, senate, and presidency they couldn't get gun control passes. In fact, red state democrats want nothing to do with gun control because it's political suicide. So believe what you want, and stock up on all the overpriced fire power you can get your hands on. I mean it's your money.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I like how you turned "nobody wants to take your guns"

Jun 19, 2015, 1:05 PM

into "it would be political suicide to do so". They want to do it, they just can't...for now.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You sound paranoid....and you didn't answer the question

Jun 19, 2015, 1:27 PM

Like I said, spend your money on artificially price inflated firearms if you want. The mere logistics of "banning" firearms (whatever that means) is already logistically impossible. What, in your opinion, would the federal government banning guns even look like?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You're the one who flip flopped, chief

Jun 19, 2015, 1:40 PM

You simply can't say, "nobody wants to take your guns", can you? Because you have to admit, that just isn't the case. They just can't do it politically now, but they would if they could. I am paranoid of government, and you should be too. Nobody said I'm hoarding guns and ammo, nice assumption though.

I think the federal government banning guns would look a lot like the current drug war, but a lot bloodier and with more casualties. No knock raids, constant surveillance on the population, and a network of snitches turning over 'criminals' who possessed guns deemed illegal. Why this is so far fetched for some of y'all is beyond me, particularly for someone like yourself who recognizes the failures and injustices of law enforcement.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why is it so far fetched?

Jun 19, 2015, 8:58 PM

Mainly because the military overthrow (which is essentially what it would be) would have to be carried out by people who own guns of their own. That's just not going to fly with the people responsible for the round up. I'm also assuming this would have to happen on a federal level. Can you even fathom the manpower required to pull this off? It would be astronomical. The "war on drugs" is easier to handle, because the people in the war on drugs think that drugs are bad. The people that would have to "round up the guns" would not not participate.

Like I said, the only one who benefits from the "the guvmint is coming for muh guns" are the people selling the guns and ammo. Obama was supposed to round up all the guns a long time ago according the the paranoid...so, what is he waiting for?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I do.

Jun 19, 2015, 10:11 AM

But only if you have a stainless Ruger 1911 (copy) in .45 cal.

And maybe a full auto AK47 (legit Ak, not a Chinese knockoff) with suppressor.

and a Belgian Browning 12 ga aut (with the gold trigger) and a Benelli Over Under 12 gauge (30" full choke barrel please) or Charles Daly Miroku 12 ga over/under with the cherry stock. Double barrel is Ok too, but I can't hit crap with those.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You have good tastes.

Jun 19, 2015, 11:03 AM

I'd like a US Army version of the 1911. A Romanian/Russian/Czechoslovakian AK would be nice too.

There's something in these hills.

Thanks. The army version really needs some mods

Jun 19, 2015, 11:08 AM

to make it shoot 100% and not feel all "junky". That's why I picked a stainless Ruger model. They have worked out what kinks it had and made it a pretty maintenance free sidearm.

It would be cool to have from a history perspective, though.

Why the Romanian/Russian/Czechoslovakian AK?

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I've heard from various sources that the Chinese verson

Jun 3, 2022, 1:15 PM

used pressed steel or mix-matched parts to compile all the AKs they made. The European ones are supposedly pretty solid.

And that 1911 would be solely for historical value. I already have a .30 M1 carbine.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

There's something in these hills.

That M1 would be a cool gun to have. One of the few to

Yeah, the Chinese made Norinco AK-47's I've shot lock up after about 20-30 rapid fire rounds. They are horrible.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Why does he keep harping on it?

Jun 19, 2015, 1:56 PM

He knows it isn't going to happen so just like the rest of the politicians he bullchits the public. I'm telling you guys this is the circus part of bread and circus and nothing more. It does not matter who takes office everything will be the same either way.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgringofhonor-clemsontiger1988-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Are you accusing a politician of politicking?

Jun 19, 2015, 9:00 PM

Shocking.

Why do Repbulican's harp on any number of ideas that they know for a fact would never pass, and even if passed would never make it past the supreme court?

I'll give you a hint...it's the same reason Obama talks about guns.
