If a team is behind 2+ scores after halftime, they are in big time trouble. As Coach Elko said "Clemson got in a position where they were chasing the game".
You can't score on plays that never happen. With basically a running clock except for incompletes, teams have pressure heaped on top of them if that get very far behind. It is a new reality coaches are going to have to adapt to.

The offense is going to have to play every play like there are only 2 mins. left in the game. Hurry up offense if you are behind in second half. Need to practice it every day.

It doesn’t affect teams with game breaking abilities but for an offense like ours that can only go down the field in small chunks it does put pressure on you to “chase the game”.

Yep. Hated that rule when they announced it. They’re trying to turn CFB into the NFL. I stopped watching the NFL years ago. The college game was so much better imo. Now not much different

I don’t mind the rule, but yes it does put teams in a bind when down 2 scores in the 4th.
I am sure we will benefit from it at some point as well.

Now I will say this. The game was somewhat shorter, but there definitely seemed like there were more commercials. Here is idea just charge more for the commercials and cut back on them.

A Twitter account called BigOrangeHeupal found that from 6:30 to 7:30 CST, there was more commercial time than actual gameplay. A Reddit account pointed out the whole ad time which lasted for 55 minutes and 57 seconds. The whole game lasted for 2 hours and 23 minutes. Looking at both, the ad time was almost 1/3 of the actual game. This does not count ad time that is usually reserved for in-game ads which often occur during a break in the game action.

Commercialism has gradually stolen time from radio talk shows, for instance. Actual program time is less than 50%, taking into account news breaks and commercials. Another example: Youtube consecutive ads.

on for 10 minutes as far as TV is concerned. More reviews, less plays for them. More time for commercials.They are killing the fun of watching...
