Why are we good at getting bball transfers?

We had 6 transfers score a combined 67 points in last night's game. Was expecting this to be a terrible year for basketball, but apparently we might have a competitive team thanks to all these transfers.

Maybe after you get past the very top tier guys, basketball transfers aren't as expensive as football transfers.

Maybe it's because teams can't carry that many guys on their roster so they can't hoard as much talent.

Whatever it is, we're a lot more competitive in the basketball transfer market than we are in football, which is backwards on its face. I mean Dabo says guys aren't good enough to play for our football team or else they've been tampered with and are too expensive . . . which means that our team is too competitive for transfers, yet we can't afford the top transfers, which seems impossible.

Anyway, here's to the Tigers beating expectations in basketball this year. Not being preseason #4 in the country sure helps.

You gotta remember there’s like 300+ D1 basketball teams to pick guys from. In football there’s like 110 FBS teams? Just a larger pool of guys to choose from. I’ll admit Brownell has done a good job in his career of identifying good transfer talents.

Not sure that answers the question. While there are more D1 basketball teams, there are a lot more D1 football players than basketball players.

300 basketball teams x 15 players per team = 4,500 potential basketball transfers

110 football teams x 105 players per team = 11,500 potential football transfers

It's a matter of doing your research in both sports. Looking for good players, maybe under the radar types, and also looking for quality character guys.
For instance bkball PF Nick Davidson is going to Law School when his playing career is over.
You can bring good people in who want to win and fit your program.
