Why give BC any kind of heads up?
And how could it possibly take that long to recover from a stomach virus - this is strange.

The major symptoms of gastroenteritis are diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps; symptoms usually self-resolve in 2 to 5 days.
The majority of gastroenteritis disease is very contagious, especially those caused by viruses and bacteria.
I don't think there's anything strange going on. Travis Blanks was sick earlier in the week(Sun-Wed) and is still getting fluids through IV.
Due to the fact most stomach virus' are extremely contagious it's probably wise to keep Sammy away from the team. Honestly, you don't want the players to keep giving this thing to each other through out the season.

to give injury reports....its just been something of a "gentleman's agreement" between ACC coaches.....that is, until a couple of weeks ago, when Larry Fedora declined to give an injury report before unc played Wake Forest and divulge that his star RB Giovanni Bernard wouldn't be playing.......the tarholes lost anyhow

1) We have to make plans to have enough WRs on the travel team. Only 65 players can travel so if you take Sammy and he can't go we are down to only 3 WRs if one of the starters get hurt. Probably would have been able to play it out until they got on the plane if Bryant wasn't also out.
2) He could be so dehydrated that it isn't safe for him to travel. He could be completely recovered but still not able to play because he would cramp up.
3) Its not like some stalker wouldn't have been there to tweet that Sammy wasn't on the team bus to the airport....so it wouldn't have remained a secret for long.
