You Are Witnessing History With USC Football
Despite the colossal 3-9 collapse that was the 2015 season, the USC Gamecocks football team is in the midst of its most successful 15-year period in the history of the program. This has happened under Lou Holtz, Steve Spurrier, and now Will Muschamp.
At 6 wins, the 2017 USC Gamecocks are assured a non-losing regular season for the 13th time in the past 15 seasons. Only the 1920-1934 teams could make the same claim. The 1976-1990 teams, and the 1945-1959 teams had 10 non-losing regular seasons in 15 years.
In addition, the current 15 year period features the most overall wins during that length of time at USC -- sitting at 110 right now, with 5 games remaining in this season. That comes out to an average of 7.33 wins per season, again, including this season which still has 5 games remaining. Modest by many standards, but considering the long history of mediocrity by USC football, that is considered upward-trending.
Lou Holtz was credited by many as resurrecting USC football. He did to a degree, winning 17 games and two Outback Bowls in two seasons, but overall, he only had three winning seasons out of six at USC, and his overall record was a losing 33-37, with a 19-29 record in the SEC. Less than stellar altogether.
Spurrier, of course, brought USC to its highest level with an unprecedented three consecutive 11-win seasons before he crashed and burned.
Muschamp's tenure is early, but he is currently 12-9 overall at USC, and 7-7 in the SEC. He has only ONE losing regular season out of six as a head coach. His overall record is 40-30 as a head coach. Interestingly enough, Muschamp's 12-9 record at USC thus far is exactly the same as Spurrier's record in his first 21 games as the USC head coach.
Although there are still five games (including a bowl game) remaining, the 2017 season looks to be another successful year for Muschamp. With great recruiting, improving defense, and a hopefully improving offense in the future, Muschamp looks to have the USC Gamecocks on solid footing moving forward.

Their recruiting is mediocre at best. The coaching is so bad in the SEC right now those guys are making Muschamp look good if one just looks at the surface. This perception really works to our benefit. They are so delusional it's almost as if they don't realize 56-7 happened last year.

They are a consistent top 25 team in recruiting but not on the field.

I thought something had to be alive first in order to die and be resurrected back to life. Just sayin. What a pathetic excuse for a football program.

I had no idea we were witnessing such a dynasty, and in our own backyard none the less.
Must be because their fans try and keep their success very low-key.
