Don’t really know. Haven’t been on here much to know, but just see posts about him being banned, and he’s a good guy.
Also trying to figure out who Patches is….

rumor has it

he posted a chic pic in the lounge that showed a little too much or a lot too much. And Patches has something to do with the lost racoon in FM's made up story which was apparently a satire on 76er's story about having to kill a crazy acting wild racoon and get DHEC to pick it up. Or something like that. It was all kind of humorous. Tug will be back with lesson learned and telling us more wildlife stories.

Wait a minute, Patches is a racoon? I've been looking for

Aug 26, 2022, 7:20 PM

Possums.

UR right, my bad. IDK why I was thinking racoons

Aug 26, 2022, 7:37 PM

Maybe bc I was looking at an IG reel about a woman who had lost her cat and put out a cage trap to catch it and only caught a bunch of racoons. Eventually, the cat came back on it's own :). They apparently live in the Jacksonville area bc they had a reel with TL and the Jags. They also have some reels with the cats running on a big wheel thingy; that is super awesome.

My sister and her family came into town from out of state, but not for a vacation. You see, my sister is heavily involved in wildlife rescue, and has been for many years. Typically they keep animals that have been injured or are sick for a few weeks-months until the animal is rehabbed, then release them back into the wild. Sometimes, for various reasons, these animals aren't fit to ever be released, and must be cared for by volunteers their entire lives. That was the case with one such animal, "Patches", he has alopecia, the possum. Found 4 years ago, Patches was sent to live with my sister by a rescue group in Florida. Patches, however, stood no chance of ever being released due to ongoing medical issues. In fact, Patches condition was so bad, euthanization was considered. My 5 year old niece, however, was having none of it. She had grown attached to Patches, so the family decided to keep him.

Fast forward to this week. The family flew Patches to SC for a life saving surgery. This surgery cost nearly $2,500.00, but again, my now 9 year old niece loves Patches, so my sister will spare no expense. The good news, the surgery was a success! Patches is expected to make a full recovery. The bad news, Patches escaped when my brother in law set the crate down in the driveway to go unlock the front door of the house!

I don't feel comfortable naming the community I live in, but it's pretty exclusive. Golf course, no guns allowed, etc... you get the picture. So if anyone is in a community like this and sees a semi hairless possum trying to get into houses, he "knocks" on the door by bumping into it when he's ready to come in, it's probably Patches. He should be easy to catch as he was still under anesthesia when he escaped and was having trouble walking. If you get close to him he'll stop, and look up at you, wanting to be picked up. It's completely safe to do so.

I know it's a long shot, but if found, please give him some food, he eats Fancy Feast, and tmale me, it would mean a lot.

come to the front door, saying "What is THAT?" THAT turned out to be a large possum, that was showing all the signs of being rabid, making aimless random circles in the paved road in front of my house. I called Animal Control ~ 8 am, but naturally they keep Bankers hours, not opening until 10 am. I left two messages.

I observed this thing for over an hour, making ~3 foot circles, slowly moving from my neighbors yard across the street, then mine, then heading towards the back lot. I got within 6 feet of it, and it had lost most of its fur, and showed absolutely no fear of humans while it was tottering around in circles, occasionally falling over on its hind end. It could see me, though, it locked onto me and followed my every movement from the time I was 20 feet away.

I absolutely hate killing one of God's creatures, unless it is for food, or it is about to kill ME. But, there was no doubt in my mind that this possum was not right, and not long for the world, it was nothing but skin and bones, easy to see up close due to most of its fur being gone. When I got within 3 feet, it looked up at me, seemingly imploring me to put it out of its misery. I finally did, with a heavy 13 wood golf club. (No firearms are supposed to be shot in my subdivision.) Animal Control can pick it up from the edge of the road, if they ever show up. I feel absolutely terrible, I don't mind saying, even though I know it was the humane thing to do. If it was a test, I only hope God grades me with a curve.
