Who do you hope SC ends up with?

I'm hoping for either Kirby Smart or Lane Kiffin. Go with the young DC who is really just a lapdog (see Florida and how well Muschamp turned out) or a highly touted former head coach. Both would be spectacular hires for us and the rest of the SEC East.

Took Kansas to 1 or 2 in the polls and an Orange Bowl. Can coach like few others. He's as radioactive as it gets now though. Same with Leavitt. Another one that completely built a program from ground zero at South Florida. They didn't even have footballs when he got there. I would not put too much stock in that Kirby Smart isn't Nicks DC. Dude can coach and more importantly, recruit. I done them breaking the pattern of washed up coaches finally and going with a hot young non P5 coach like Herman or Fuente, Campbell. Still, it's the Coots, so it will probably be someone like Barry Switzer, Jimmy Johnson, or Dennis Erickson. Or better yet, Phil Fulmer. They like to hire coaches with past history that have also spanked them in the past.

If they get someone who can be successful and receuit, it will negatively affect us. Thst being said, Tanner is an imbecile and I have faith in his terrible decision making (outside of coaching baseball, I will grant him that at least, good thing that's no longer his job)

Class of '10, Major in Biochemistry, Minor in Genetics. It has worked very well for us that SC is abysmal in recruiting. I'm just thinking of people who I have a feeling will be terrible. Right now they want Kirby Smart from what I see, but my understanding is Nick Saban is actually the one who runs their defense. I think it would be catastrophic for them, and I, for one, would love to see their program get run into the ground again and think Kirby Smart would be the man for this. If they go for Kiffin (long shot, but I have my hopes), they may get the death penalty, which Im pulling for.

...he will be hired away by some school with tradition and cash. No one that can make it a winner wants to make it a career. There are too many big time opportunities looking for successful coaching to continue the tradition. Any short term success for the chickens will be fleeting......

I just have my own wishlist of terrible choices ole Ray Tanner could make. We don't have to worry about them getting a successful, proven coach, and I like the odds of Tanner making another great (for us) choice like their basketball coach (Shoehorn, I think is his name?).

Just read this in my morning paper and was flabbergasted.Dabo won't be able to beat in Cootlumbia.BUMMER!!
Now,as to his replacement,I think the coots need to continue in the trend of hiring former coaches
who won national titles at other schools(Paul Dietzel/LSU,Lou Holtz/Notre Dame,and Spurrier/Florida).
I think Barry Switzer might be available.

For the sake of Clemson, promoting Jon Hoke and keeping everyone else the same would be hilarious. Let ol' Pee Face Wangus move up to OC and hire Sleezy Garcia as new QB coach. This would be the most entertaining scenario.
As someone who wants to not completely hate their coach, I hope they get someone who isn't going to try and trash talk Clemson. Laughing is good for your health, though, so maybe it's just what we need.

I think its going to take a while, if ever, return to what they were a few yrs ago. Spurrier, even tho i can't stand him, was one of the best in the business and it took him about 3-4 yrs to rebuild SC. I can't see another coach bringing them back to that level that fast

Geez - I had hoped nobody would mention that guy. He's the perfect candidate if I was the AD, but I hope the coots don't read this thread now. They need to stay in mediocrity.
Ralph Fridgeon? He's actually a decent coach that might accept the job. And Phil Fulmer would be too, but he's afraid to return to Alabama for fear for his life. I guess he would stay home when they had to go there.

Group of 5 ranks. While I would hate to see anyone's coaching career flame out prematurely, that type of coach would get beat regularly on the recruiting trail in SC so the program would be further mired in mediocrity, plus the school would stick with them for four years at least for the turnaround that never comes, further separating our two programs for the foreseeable future.
