that DJ's criticism of the Clemson offense is somewhat justifiable (pretty much everyone was criticizing it), I also think he should have either taken the high road and just remained silent or accepted some responsibility for how/why the offense struggled. I chalk that up to being part of his maturation process. The offense was pretty basic, generic and vanilla because DJ, for whatever reason, was unable to master a more complex system. In fairness, that was just one part of a bigger problem. There was plenty of blame to go around for the struggling offense.

That said, am I remembering correctly how many people on this forum were very critical of Dabo's decision to promote Streeter to OC as opposed to conducting more of a national search?

the promotion of Streeter was an awful decision......

considering the "level" that Clemson is at nationally.

Dabo corrected it with Riley...........better late than never.


Not completely sold on Goodwin, but in today's college game there is more leeway with defenses. You can win a national title with just an "adequate" defense. It's difficult to win a national title without an explosive offense that scores a lot of points. Goodwin just needs to not run the car into the ditch with our defensive talent.

If we don’t improve on pass coverage and d-line play this season, Dabo may chose to make an outside hire esp if the coots light us up again with their 2 star talent on offense.

At the time i thought this was a worse promotion than Streeter... I'm still not convinced otherwise

we just lost one of best, if not the best DC in the country. We have are fairly talent rich on defense that could insulate any DC deficiencies Goodwin may have.

however on the offensive side of the ball we lacked talent at QB & WR. We had come off 2 years of atrocious offensive football and the offensive assistants were young & inexperienced, so rolling the dice with Streeter didn't help matters at all.
