Where do U think Jeff Scott fits in at Clemson in next FIVE

Jul 7, 2013, 2:31 PM

years? Saying, he's got a great position & important duties with Football department now, is liked by many, a great spirited recruiter, etc.

Where job do you see him having 5 years from now...with Clemson in a bigger role..or with another school?

gOTiGERS!

people say he may be the next oc if and when chad leaves, but if not why would chad not take him with him as his oc?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Morris will basically be the OC wherever he goes

Jul 7, 2013, 5:32 PM

He'll have an official OC, but he'll be calling the shots.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

That's why I think Chad will stay longer than we think.

Jul 8, 2013, 9:36 AM

He is an OC, that's his calling and that's what he is best at. In high school, you can get away with being a head coach and the OC at the same time. The HC has a lot of control over the playcalling, and there are less assistant coaches, no recruiting, etc.

If/when Chad moves up to a big-time D1 football HC job, he will not be able to function like he did as HC in high school. He will have highly paid and highly qualified assistants, and recruiting to contend with, among a myriad of other things. Gus Malzahn would be a good hire for Chad at OC, but he's not the HC at Auburn, so that's out. Chad will leave when the right job presents itself WHEN a OC is available that understands his offense.

Another thing I like about Morris is that he's still tweaking his offense, even as he is having such great success. He added the pistol formation last season, and he's overhauling the play signaling this season to speed things up even more.

We need to keep him the highest paid OC in the country. If we do, I think he will stay a lot longer than we think.

because scott can be the actual OC at clemson. if he follows chad, then the perception will always be that morris is really running the offense and scott is oc in name only.

why would he leave a great situation where he is the man on oc to be oc in name only for a program that just fired their previous coach?

He reminds me of Coach Swinney a little.

this.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Some say OC. Not sure Dabo would try that experiment though

Jul 7, 2013, 5:23 PM

instead of hiring someone who has more experience actually calling plays.

I think Jeff Scott will end up doing big things. Just not sure what that means at Clemson though.

Dabo has said that the offense we run is Clemson's offense.

If he wants to stick by that, he'll need someone that runs the same offense that we do now. Where is he going to find that on the outside considering morris only coached for one year at the collegiate level before coming to Clemson?

He will be the O-Cord here at Clemson. When Morris leaves
after this season to take a head coaching position we will
need to promote from within and here are my reasons for
saying this. If you bring someone in from the outside, they will want to change scheme and with our current players and skill sets that probably wouldn't work out for the best. Also we would have a better chance a keeping
all of our commits. This kid is smart and I'm sure Morris and Dabo have been planning for this. Come on guys... everybody knows Morris is going to be the most coveted coordinator in football. Dabo knows the time is coming and coming very soon.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He'll likely be a strong candidate for OC

Jul 7, 2013, 8:06 PM

As a fews others stated, when CM leaves, JS is the next guy. Unlike Dabo's mistake, aka Billy Napier, JS has a pedigree and experience in coaching. Additionally, he has lived, coached, and recruited in SC practically his whole life. So from a recruiting standpoint JS is a huge peice.

I think CM is gone after this season (no secret there), then Dabo will be faced with losing JS or promoting him. Somebody is gonna want JS as an OC.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I'm not sure how ambitious he is but if he wants to be an OC

Jul 7, 2013, 8:41 PM

sonner rather than later he'll be moving on in the next couple of years. If he stays for 4 to 5 years he could very well be the next OC at Clemson.

Re: His Coaching Position is Uniquely Critical for Our

Jul 8, 2013, 5:48 AM

Offense. He's a great WRs coach and great recruiter. Can't ask for a better guy to have that coaching position.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

If he gets the chance to be the OC here at Clemson

Jul 8, 2013, 7:03 AM

and that's a big if, who do we put at Recruiting Coordinator? I would think with being the OC and WRs he wouldn't have enough time to be the Recruiting Coordinator

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Brad Brownell: more losses than any other coach in school history.

Maybe Danny Ford as next Recruiting Cordinator?! Kidding!

Elliot.

plus, don't forget that Dabo has already hired a staffer to help with the recruiting logistics.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I say he's the next OC

Jul 8, 2013, 10:23 AM

He's being bred for it right now. He's learning Morris's system so it'll be an easy transition when Morris moves on. He knows if he keeps up the success, Clemson will provide a very large paycheck in his not-too-distant future. And he's one #### of a recruiter for us. I believe Dabo will go to great lengths to keep Scott around.
