Wrs for lawrence

Jan 14, 2019, 10:30 AM

We have 3 6'4/5 receivers already Ross/Higgins/overton now addin Ngata 6'3 200+ and Frank Ladson 6'4 I don't remember a Clemson team having this type of tall receiving core. Plus we have extremely great shorter agility guys at receiver now I believe now that HR is gone it will be a little more explosive due to a more faster speed guy will be in his position. But the garanteed catches may not be there all the time. Excited for the future

Jaron Brown, Nuk Hopkins, Sammy Watkins, Charone Peake, & Martavis Bryant were a very similar WR group.

I don't remember the exact heights of all of those guys but that group had a ton of talent and pretty good size also.

Brown, Hopkins and Watkins were all shorter

Bryant was really the only one 6'4 or taller. Peake was close.

Went back and checked and you are right. They seemed to play very big on balls down the field though.

Jaron Brown listed at 6'3" was next tallest after Bryant, then Peake, then Hopkins and Watkins.

When we had Hamilton and Youngblood

We had some taller guys. Tennessee struggled to cover them in the Peach Bowl that year.

Double-WR stack on both sides with a TE & TL alone in...

...the backfield.

Double stack with TH/JN & JR/FL on either side with a TE, put TL in the backfield alone.

Let's see them cover this crew with TL's decision making.

The odds of a 10+ yard strike on this formation for 3 downs seems almost impossible to stop.

I'd rather have ETN in the backfield with Lawrence vs any of our current TEs.

If you are looking for 10+ yards per play then adding the threat of the run gives you a much better chance.

4 wide and a TE vs a 4 or 5 man box is not going to produce consistently. Believe that having ETN, Feaster, and Dixon on the team greatly helps our passing game in becoming explosive.

DBs must hate us. They have to back peddle, turn and run all night, then get hit upside the head with a downfield block. We calmly send in fresh legs all the time.
