Soo what is the story with him. Was it really grades? I mean Maryland is known for academics as well right?

Apparently coach and maybe principal changed some players grades. I dont think he did anything but is the victim of their transgression
|

I'm going to assume this is a sign and place, with Maryland having more leeway with JC transferable credits and they also have more need/room in their class.

Maybe he is good enough in Maryland's eyes to be worth the risk of him not getting in. Given our class size and NEED for an RB, I imagine the Clemson staff felt like they needed a guaranteed sign and not a potential for an academic casualty down the line.

For sure, Etienne is rated the #114 prospect in ESPN's ratings, Richardson is thier #229 recruit.

I'm sorry, 10lbs lighter. Richardson won't post his 40 time. It's estimated at between 4.4 & 4.5. He isn't a break away back at the college level. Considered a downhill bruising back. Etienne is more of the complete package. A much better get. The 10lbs of weight can be made up easily in the new football ops center. Aka Dabo World.

Because he couldn't come to Clemson with all that has happened at his high school.
It's a shame, because he is a load at 240 lbs (4.5 forty yard dash).

If he needed help staying eligible in HS, how is he going to do when he faces college work?
He just turned out to be a "bad risk" once the grade thing came to light and Clemson can't afford to gamble on a "bad risk" in a class of 14 recruits.

Grade changes, passing kids who were flunking, ect, ect. Lot's of nonsense surrounding this kid and his high school. Dabo did the right think in cutting him loose.
