Upcoming bkball schedule...

So we have next BC at home, Syracuse on the road, Pitt at home...
We need to win these three before at Duke. If we lose just one then just continue the trend of winning one and then losing one.
I know Syracuse is really down this season, but see a similar scenario as the game last night. We could miss a lot of 3s vs that zone and Buddy and Jimmy B go crazy and hit a lot of 3s they will lose
Just don't see this team getting on a roll. The two guards Dawes and Honor are just way to inconsistent for a team to do that.
We havent had good consistent guards since the sweet sixteen team. Dawes was a 4 star recruit by a lot of services and just another recruiting miss as being too inconsistent. Got to be better...

Just like in football, basketball stars given out by people who can't get a real job mean nothing. The honest problem with our guards is they are too small and cannot contest when the other team's guards get hot. Many guards are 6'6' or 6'5" and ours are 5'10" and 6'2' or 3".

A lot of guards in college basketball are 6 foor to 6-2 and can drive, and pass as well as shoot.
Yes, we don't have a long wing who can do a lot of everything on the team right now. That is the recruiting problem of not evaluating roster balance in what you have. That one is on Brad...

Seems like Beadle(I believe) is that but is redshirting. This call was made early on so I'm guessing he is needing some work before he can help. As experienced as we are at guard we have had some very silly turnovers and arent great against the press.

Not true. Stars do matter and are not just arbitrarily handed out or guessed at. A lot goes into it... And I know you know that too. Do you have outliers, absolutely but few and far between.

I agree Dawes and Honor are too small to play on the court at the same time. ND had taller ball handlers last night and we couldn't stop them. The remaining schedule sets up pretty good. However, this team likely finishes the regular season 8-6, 7-7 or 6-8.
We're a win one, lose one type team depending if the 3's are falling.

What's the goal for this year's team?

The ACC is so down, realistically, we're going to need to finish in like the top-4 to have a chance at the NCAA Tournament.
So far we have just one win against a top-100 RPI team (and that was against South Carolina who was missing half of their team).
Then you factor in how bad the ACC is - we basically have to start winning all of these games against mediocre competition because there honestly just aren't many chances at a "marquee win".
As of now, there's only 1 ACC team (Duke) that would be projected to receive a top-8 seed.
Based on that, we're going to have to really limit our losses.

It is NET rating a lesser extent Kenpom and ESPN BPI...
We do have couple top 100 wins in NET.
