Due to my kids having a function, I didn't get to go to the game yesterday. Instead, I tuned on the TV at noon. 12 hours later at midnight, I turned it off. As I went to bed, I thought about all the things I 'knew' about at noon:
-that Michigan was going to have another boring blowout win on national TV -that Washington was back and Husky Stadium would be impossible for a freshman quarterback to win in -that the Iron Bowl was going to decide the SEC championship -that Va Tech and Clemson would celebrate division championships -that the Louisville would destroy Wake (if you didn't follow game, Wake was up 12-3 at half and led going into 4th) -that Ole Miss's season was over without Swag -that the Ohio St/Michigan game was going to determine the winner of the division (if you don't know, an Ohio St win against Michigan gives Penn St the division assuming they beat Rutgers & Michigan St who has a combined 1 win in conference) -that this week's college football ranking show on Tuesday would be a snoozefest
Why do we love college football? Because we base our knowledge on how 18-22 year olds will do. Because there is no rational explanation for everything that happened yesterday to happen. Something crazy happens every week, and very often we are in the middle of the craziness. Did I think when we were up 8 with 6 minutes to go and the ball inside the 10 that we would lose? No. Did I think that when we were down 8 to both Louisville and FSU in the middle fourth that we would win? No. Do I think we can still win the national championship? Yes. Do I think we could love next week to Wake? Yes. That, my friend, is why we love this game.
There are two weeks of the regular season and then the championship weekend. And I would guess that what we know today is nothing to what we will know in a few weeks
