I got into real estate development right before the bottom dropped out in 2008 and lost millions. That crushed me for a few years.
I hope it works out better for him.

I think he’s selling houses. Heard him on a podcast and he doesn’t like the BS challenges of recruiting in this portal and NiL era. I don’t blame him a bit. Maybe we can get him back anyway, but he seemed fine with what he’s doing on the podcast.

I’m saying that is the issue (seemingly) for a return to coaching. Said something about imagine working 4 years on a kid, letters, calls, visits, hugging family members, games, etc., get the commitment, and then on signing day Alabama offers him a price he can’t turn down, and then all those years of work is down the drain just like that.
Maybe when there are regulations and rules he will come back. Maybe he comes back anyway. I would love to see him back here as RC and WR coach. It would be another step forward like the recent hires.

A HC's success depends 100% on the coaching staff they can put together at whatever school they are at, and USF isn't a school to attract top level assistance. IMO Jeff was doomed to fail at USF from day 1...

Real Estate developer. I develop myself and I can tell you there is more money in it than what he was making coaching. Add to that the Clemson area worships him and he faces almost zero pushback politically, he’s into green development and even the liberals support his efforts. He ain’t coming back unless it’s a HC position which may happen in about 5 years!

Who would want to willingly subject themselves to constant scrutiny and criticism on top of the fact that coaching would take him away from his family 90% of the time, especially when he doesn’t need the money. Jeff Scott has put in his time and made his money. Anybody who’s ever led a large organization with constant scrutiny understands. Good for you, Jeff. Enjoy the rest of your life.
