Of course, because it was obvious when he came to Clemson, how good of a defensive coordinator he was need to check and see what Bob stoops record was without him. Every year I just hoped and pray that he wouldn’t go somewhere else. We were blessed to have him for 10 years one of the best ever as a defensive coach.

Two things can be true at once…
1) Dabo deserves a ton of credit for going out and getting Brent Venables and other coaches who made us successful
2) Dabo is a much better CEO / figurehead than an X’s and O’s coach on gameday

I agree with this assessment. I'll add that I personally thought it was a great hire when he went out and got Garrett Riley, Matt Luke, and Tom Allen. However, those decisions have aged as well as the Venables hire and I can't really figure out why?

Because he don’t allow them to bring or hire position coaches that know how to competently implement their system
You can hire the best foreman in the world over a construction site, but if the laborers don’t know how to hang drywall or do carpentry work that project going to be a mess

That is why we are here, the X and O thing. Dabo got butt hurt over it and has his fingers in things he should not, simple as that.

Sure. A guy with 2 nattys, multiple conference titles and a full trophy case is somehow not all that on X's & O's

The problem is instead of letting the coordinators with proven systems bring their staff, they have to try to make it work here with a bunch of former players and friends with Zero coaching experience.

The only had part about being to good during a big run, the personnel will get raided. But it def proves Dabo is only as good as the people around him. Saban never had that issue, it was just plug and play with the OCs and DCs.

That and talent, old Nick had it in droves. He had 5 stars playing very little until they were juniors, grown up men with bad intentions to boot. I doubt it can ever be replicated given how CFB is structured today.

Yeah it was just an assembly line of top players that you could choose from. They developed and got the max potential out of those 5*s too, something we've been struggling with. But I'm convinced the NIL was made to break up these well oiled machines that were in the running every single year. When you see a program like Vandy in the top 10 in college football, the NCAA got what they wanted out of this.
