has Swinney addressed this yet? First the collarbone now the finger. Did he have any other broken bones as a kid?

I mean, I'm sure his hand has never hit a helmet before, and then, it just grazes one and snap. Wait, no, I'm pretty sure his hand has been hit by a helmet approximately 100,000 times before and this was just getting hit in the wrong spot at the wrong time. I don't think he missed a game in high school (maybe at the end of his senior year with a knee?) and he ran a lot more then than he does now.

I believe you are exactly right about the face mask. Perhaps he should try to limit his stiff-arm tendency now that he is playing "big boy" football.

Some of these guys heard the announcers speculate that it hit a helmet but forgot to listen as the replay showed no contact on the play before he left the game. The injury clearly happened as he stiff-armed the guy and went to the ground on the previous play. Definitely could have been bent wrong by the facemask.

DW is a very tough kid and will be a great QB I hope everyone stops talking about this whole bone density junk. Just look at how the kid takes a tackle and after the play when he did injury his finger he didn't go running to the sideline crying. He waited until he felt it could cost the team the game.

His finger was stuck in the guys facemask when he was tackledd. I don't give a #### how dense your bones are, that will snap one every time.

A lot of leverage applied to a finger caught in a face mask
Oct 14, 2014, 1:46 PM
[ in reply to by barely touching a helmet?*** ] |

that's being twisted by a 250 pound defensive player.
It was a freak incident.
He got it caught in the face mask trying to stiff arm and it snapped because the face mask material was stronger than Watson's finger.
Maybe in the long run Watson will prove to be less than durable and injury prone, but this situation has nothing to do with that at all.

He was stiff arming the defenders helmet, when they went down he probably got it caught up in the facemask. And I doubt we can do anything about his "bone density" at this point lol

He broke the bone on this play. He got up, ran back to the huddle, and didn't realize something was wrong until he tried to throw the ball on the next play.

He knew it was hurt but did not realize how bad until he threw the next pass. He shook his hand when he got up and looked at it again before the next play was called.

A broken collarbone fracture is a very common fracture that occurs in people of all ages. It is actually the most common types of broken bones...so you can rule that silly statement out.
Broken finger..This is a relatively common injury which often occur when the finger is crushed between two hard objects. The reason his is so public is because he is a QB. Just about all other players except the QB and recievers usually play with broken fingers.
so, I don't think bone density has anything to do with. Watson plays hard and is going to have injuries, especially if he has to run so much.

If he had a bone density problem his serum calcium level would be terribly elevated, most physicals involve a comprehensive Metabolic profile(CMP). I have to believe, he has been checked many times. I am sure he had to have blood work before his surgery. I feel certain he's okay.
