What if Clemson played FSU later in the season-win or loss

would we be better off? Let's take this season. Even though we are 6-2 we are ranked low in the polls. Would a mid-season loss or late season loss have bumped us so far down the polls like we are right now with our early season loss? Would all our other wins up until the FSU game have held some currency we didn't get when we loss at the start?
I don't know but it is frustrating to win 5, 6, 7, 8, etc and see no movement in the polls.

Our best win is unranked Louisville. How is it that some folks think we should be rocketing up the polls? I think we are lucky to be ranked at all.

I don't think we should be rocketing up in the polls. But we certainly shouldn't fall after winning --- not even just one place.

still trying to figure out how take em to OT lose and drop out of the polls and Notre Dame is still in top ten???? and LSU barely beats an overrated Ole Miss and moves up 6 spots??? while we win with defense (defense wins championships, right??) and move down

So is your point that if we were currently 7-1 right now with the only loss being the opener at UGA, we would be ranked higher due to the overall record. And if we were to play FSU in say 2 weeks and lost in OT we would not drop as low as we are now?
With a 7-1 record and only loss to UGA week 1 I would say we could potentially be as high as 13th right now due to no signature win. If we played FSU and lost close I still see us dropping to the low teens especially with still no signature win, thus not far from where we currently are.
Ahh hypotheticals are fun.

Well, if we did play them late we would have never dropped out of the polls at all and that would be the only plus cause we would be ranked around the same maybe a little higher

Honestly, if we played them 10 times we would beat the 5.

If we would have beat FSU at 7-1 the Tigers would be knocking on the top 10 or maybe be ranked around 8-10. At 6-2 just getting by BC and the Cuse, I think we are about where we deserve to be.
