Tournament officiating vs ACC officiating

Has anyone else noticed a difference in subject officiating? What I see is more correct around the basket calls compared to the ACC where they seem to call a foul on the defensive person just because they are there. I think the ACC officiating is more pitty-pat like. I have always thought Duke lived in a cocoon of protective officiating and that is why they typically got knocked out of the tournament early on. What do others see?

It happens every year in every league. Fouls that were called all year are overlooked in the tournament and all the teams understand that going in. Tournaments are man up.

NCAA tournament are ACC refs and that non-ACC refs call things differently... Never mind, you're a coot, wash, rinse, repeat.

I think VC may have skipped over from an alternate timeline. The one where Sinbad was in a movie called Shazaam. And all of the rules of sports are different.

What I see is horrendous officiating across the board.

There is one rule book that spells out each violation. All refs should be held to that same exact standard based on those rules. The way refs decide to call games, whether consciously or unconsciously, should be the same game-to-game, league-to-league, reg season vs. post season, early in the game, late in the game, etc., etc..
When I hear "they don't call that in the Big 10!", or "the style of play is much more physical in the Big 12", or the worst of all "they're letting them play" or "they don't want to call ticky tack fouls; they want the players to decide the game, not the refs". How absurd, and it's just a reminder of how weak and horrible officials are.
A foul is a foul anywhere, anytime, no matter who is playing. The rule doesn't change, and it's not malleable or flexible.
ADs and coaches and whoever governs the refs all need to sit down, watch film, and consult the rule book, and decide once and for all to enforce the rules exactly as they are, or throw the rule book out and rewrite it to satisfy the desire for inconsistency and flexibility by officials to influence not only outcomes, but to shape the way the game is played.

My 50 yr old sports minded son does not watch college basketball because he feels (rightfully so) that officiating determines the outcome of games.
