What I do not understand about our seeding

is that there are 16 teams in each region, we are a 6 seed, and New Mexico is an 11 seed, it adds up to 17. This makes no sense, I have worked this over a dozen times in my head and I am pretty sure ESPN screwed up our bracket. I bet they have a 4 seed playing an 11 seed somewhere, or we were supposed to be a 5 seed. I am looking into this..

It’s the same match Coot fans use when another team in the SEC wins something

I have investigated this occurrence and found they messed up on all 1-16 seeds as well. You would think as many years as they have put this thing on they could have worked the maths out by now.

You have to adjust the seedings accordingly

Great methamamatics. Send that in to ESPN, and they’re sure to call you to set up an interview. I hope in your condition you are able to fly to the interview without freaking out.

But it all still adds up to this being one of our best teams ever.

What you gotta do is multiply both seedings by 4, take the sum, subtract 4, and multiply by 0.25. Simple.
[(6x4 + 11x4) - 4]x0.25 = 16

Okay but explain this. If all the favorites win, four 6 seeds will play four 3 seeds. 6+3 = 9. Multiply by 4 regionals and you get 9x4 = 36. But there will be 32 teams in the tournament at that point, not 36. Logarithms must be involved somewhere.

add up to 17. Were you expecting a different number? Maybe your abacus has gotten out of tune?

Seeding, ranking, win/loss totals - completely arbitrary.
If you’re a champion at life, that’s all that matters.
