What happened yesterday?

Nov 20, 2022, 7:55 PM

It was like the offensive play calling did a 180, almost like the Clemson offenses of old. It wasn't like it was a little bit better play calling, it was a ton better. I know this can't be the truth, but it felt like the coaches wanted to attempt to get threw the regular season with a basic offense, and then turn it up to the Clemson standard during the acc championship game and the playoff....however we lost to Notre Dame so what the hell let's pull out our real offense. Felt like we lost to Notre Dame because the true offense want installed and it was to late during the game to make the changes. I know that's not true but wow.....much different play calling from the entire season to last night.

It did feel a lot different. For a split second I wondered the same thing but that’s crazy and would never happen. Just must have seen some Miami weaknesses they could exploit. The canes had some hard hitting LBs and Safety but really lack talent in some positions.

Offenses evolve and grow during a season and you always save a few cards for late in the game.

Don't BS this subject.

Until last night DJ only hit a handful of crossing receivers. DJ was on fire in his passing and running games. He was decisive, for the most part, crisp, clean throws which landed on the money. Unusual for him but wonderful for him and everyone not wearing that puke green.

Actually threw a few slants, haven’t seen one all season. Not as many screens. Some of the difference seemed to be a more effective DJ in RPO (at least in first half)old DJ reappeared in third quarter. First half performance was definitely something we haven’t seen all year. It was fun again

the field last night. He was outstanding compared to all our other games.

Got up 2 scores and then in the 3rd had a slew of turnovers. Ball security issues, holding the ball too long by the QB, over throwing a crosser with a safety over the top. There was more execution issues than playcalling issues.

hit laterally moving receivers a few. Most of our offensive woes came at the QB position. DJ was exception relatively speaking. The coaches called a bunch of crossing routes early in the year which often resulted in tip balls some ending in interceptions.

Imo, people criticizing our coaching staff for calling play which are limited to what DJ can execute is pure foolishness. Our coaches handled DJ right and as well as his abilities allowed.

I agree with you. DJ hasn't developed the way he was expected to have. In defense of those critics Streeter as a QB has been underwhelming and Grisham as a Wr coach also underwhelming. Streeter as an OC he's had some serious flashes imo, but he can only be but so aggressive if the offense is having issues executing.
