the PAC 12 and one other conference (was it the Big 12?) announced a while back? Was that officially dropped with all the conference realignments?

and BIG10, and then one stole the other’s two biggest commodities, so how do you think that alliance is going now?

a b.s. ploy to get Phillips a contract extension. Hard to see what, if anything, he has done to help the ACC. Got himself a raise and a contract extension though.
It's hard not to see the truth, BUT, it can be done.

Let me get this straight. The ACC and PAC formed the alliance with the Big 10. All three turned their noses up at the Big 12 and left them out of the new friend and partnership. Big 10 stabbed the PAC in the back when they weren't looking. ACC and Phillips left looking like a fool.

Do not believe there was much substance to that deal. I believe it was political in gaining leverage against the SEC. Not sure if there were anything ever inked on paper about any alliance.

Ha. It sure ticked off all the Big 12 talking heads on social media that were already burned by Texas and OU. They do videos constantly on the PAC and ACC breaking up and seem to be relishing the day it happens. That's where most of this rumor talk starts from lately - Big 12 social media personalities.

Reminds me of the “Goodfellas” scene where the bar owner makes a deal with the Mafia and then they steal everything and burn his bar down.

Theoretical Question: Would It Have Helped Us?

Obviously, it was "Bravo-Sierra" to gain leverage.
But, let's pretend for a second it was going to happen. Would it have any benefit at all? TV deal leverage? Validation for the teams that are the best in it?
I think talk of playoff expansion has likely squelched much of the convo too. More conference champions will be getting a chance to compete for a title.
Just wondering what you all thought about the idea of it to begin with.

Which is why it's disappeared.
They delayed the playoff expansion so television rights wouldn't be gifted at less than market value to ESPN.
SEC wanted to gift early playoff expansion to ESPN. I presume there was a handshake agreement between Greg Sankey and ESPN that if ESPN could get playoff expansion on the cheap, there would be more money for the SEC with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma.
I don't think it is a coincidence that we have yet to hear how much more money the SEC will get with the addition of Texas and Oklahoma, but I doubt it will be much. Maybe it will be enough to keep the existing members whole. But with ESPN having all of the SEC television rights, the SEC doesn't have leverage. If ESPN doesn't have more slots to fill (on ESPN, ESPN2, or SECN), Oklahoma and Texas don't add a lot for them.
Everybody talks about how great the SEC and B1G deals are, but in five years the SEC is going to feel stuck (they may be getting more money, but it is the same as the ACC's "all their eggs in one basket" bind). The B1G played it way smarter.
As to the Big-12, they are the new version of the old Big East/AAC. They have no brands. They got a decent new television deal (worth less than the ACC's) but they have no brands that move the needle, so there is no reason for the B1G, ACC, or even the Pac-12 to worry about them. (Unless the Pac-12 can't get a decent TV deal - which seems to be a distinct possibility.)
