Can someone please explain to me why LSU thinks they are a top coaching job?

Why would you leave a power 5 school for LSU? The path to the playoff is much easier if you're not playing Bama each year.
There is a reason UGA had to hire a coordinator to be their head coach. There is a reason USuC had to hire a failed coach to come to their program....

It is all about the path to the playoff. Look at all the SEC hires the last few years. Arkansas coach took a lateral move and he's working towards getting fired while his old school is in the top 10. Which coach was a big name hire?

They are under the impression that any coach would leave to go to LSU.

I'd argue that Dabo, Fisher, and Petrino wouldn't leave their current schools. Why is that when LSU is a better job?

My top five (in no particular order) would probably be Alabama, Texas, Ohio State, Southern Cal and Notre Dame.
I'd have LSU in the next group along with Oklahoma, FSU, Michigan, UGa, Texas A&M, Michigan State, Tennessee, and Clemson.

The top 6 would be Florida, Bama, Texas, USC west, Ohio State, and FSU, imo, in no particular order.
Followed by LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, A&M, Clemson, UGA, Oregon, and Tennessee, imo. None of these is in any particular order either.
The great thing about LSU, Tennessee, and UGA, there is no major threat in state to recruiting.

They are a top coaching job but you're right it really isn't beneficial for an established P5 coach to take any of those great jobs.

That's what I meant. They are a top job, but it's not what it use to be.

Look at Louisville, it was a stepping stone job, now it's a great job that coaches wouldn't ever leave.

It's a job that Petrino shouldn't leave but if LSU and Louisville both had a vacancy you take LSU over Louisville every time.
