I'm choosing not to make the pandemic political. A lot of people are, but I see politicizing tragedy as very low.

NYC was the first place EU travelers to the US stopped.

The spread on the east coast began in deep blue NYC and spread to NJ and other northeastern states before we had time to figure out what medications worked or what demographic was most vulnerable to the virus and which it was most likely to kill.

Bill is a good guy, probably watching too much cable news these days with the pandemic keeping him indoors. But he has a giant heart and he is a true Clemson man.

Doesn't matter how each state voted in 2016. Each death is tragic.

This is not a dumb post. If one can politicize it in one

direction, one can politicize it in the other. There have been daily posts calling Gov Kemp and others stupid because their states went through the rise portion of the rise-and-fall cycle, as well as posts simply pointing out that the US has a high reported case rate: no explanation, just post it and run. Now Bill does the same thing in reverse, and some call him an idiot. No, he's pointing out the hypocrisy of politicizing an invisible virus, and I pointed him for doing so.
No, blue states didn't cause a higher incidence, and I'm pretty sure Bill doesn't think so. NY, for instance, had a huge case load probably due to population density, and now seems to have reached some herd immunity as their activity has dropped to nil. Fine.
The US is going through the exact same cycle, and the case, hospitalization and death graphs have turned sharply downward in the last few weeks. Our fatality rate is going to come in at about .1%, per Stanford Univ. All said and done, we will have done a great job of living through this in a manner consistent with our own unique culture and preferences, most of which I would not trade for anything.
If Bill's post made people mad, it shows the need to stop tribalizing something people didn't cause. And if one is not willing to do that, Bill's post is correct. One or the other.

Several studies based on random testing show that the

actual case load is exponentially higher than the confirmed cases. Stanford started saying this months ago, and more recent tests continue to confirm it. Very recently, even the CDC - which wants to convince you that you're about to die tomorrow unless you do what they say - admits that the case load is very high and the death rate very low.
