Not trying to make it make sense, but it was based on what the other teams that we played did. Coastal lost, South Carolina lost.,NC State lost, and Boston College lost. All of those were teams that gave us an RPI boost initially.

It’s because they’re playing #1 rpi wake forest. Losing to number 1 on the road is better than beating #28 at home. I’m with you. It makes no sense and I fully disagree with it

Stupid system... just like basketball. Winning no longer seems to matter as much.

If you go to Warren Nolan then pull up our team sheets, one of the tabs is “impact games”. It shows how all our opponents games will affect our RPI. Also remember that in the RPI formula home wins only count as .7 wins and losses count as 1.3 losses. Road games are vice versa. We have also reached an area in the RPI ranking where the separation between the teams is pretty small and there is much room to move up but plenty to go down.

Irrelevant and immaterial as long as we win.

We’ve gotta get out of the ACC. Kills our RPI in baseball and basketball.

What are you talking about? The ACC is second only to the SEC in baseball RPI. And the gap between the ACC and 3rd place is the 3 times the gap between us and first. We jumped 25 places total for going 2-1 last weekend - in the ACC. There is plenty to complain about ACC basketball but we are not penalized, at all, in baseball.

Our RPI should have jumped through the roof when we were swept by Wake!

Reality is we've gone from last place in our baseball division to second place in a relatively short time! Yesterday's win jumped us from fourth to second, if only by a few skinny hairs.
