I don't think an injury should count

It may not be the only reason he was a bust but we will never know. Personally I think should only count as a bust if they didn't have a significant injury.

it certainly would not apply to Crosby; as you mention, he had a great freshman year, in spite of a nagging injury. He was the real deal and proved it, but regrettably chose another route.

You could have said our coaches since Danny and things would have gone differently.

My Gem is Price from last year.....
Jul 19, 2012, 12:51 PM
|
|
From a Walk-On to probably our most important lineman last year and helped lead us to ACC Championship. I know others are more heralded, but I like to give the big-uglies their due.
Bust -- We've had too many to pick one. Injuries shouldn't qualify one to be a bust in my book. I'd go with Bellamy I guess, because he is gone all because of poor choices on his part.

Michael Carr sez hey. One of the top QBs in the country. Went AWOL. Showed up with a brand new car. Almost got us put on probation. Played maybe 50 snaps in his Clemson career.
gem: Obed Ariri. Not even recruited for football.

handle his situations.
He was on pace to set more than just freshman records and sprained his knee. He was ready to come back and sat out the GT game as a precaution and an OLineman broke his nose celebrating that win.
He had to have surgery on his elbow to correct a high school injury.
2002 off season: five of his childhood friends from South Carolina decided to drive down to Florida and watch him play spring ball. They never made it. According to The Sports Xchange, the driver lost control of the vehicle near Hinesville, Ga., resulting in an accident. The driver and two of the passengers died at the scene.
The following year, his brother, Nathaniel Hill, disappeared while swimming at a lake in South Carolina. Divers found his body three days later.
He held the guilt of his friend's deaths because they went to visit him.
He's had some awful luck IMO.

I'm not dissing Dabo. He is my favorite Clemson coach since Danny and the first four or five years of TB stint here.
The jury is still out on Dabo and I hope he becomes a coach to whom I can give allegiance as I have given to Danny.
Didn't mean to stab you guys in the heart there.

if dabo (and clemson) can't claim the victory, they should at least be considered undefeated in acccg appearances. since gt didn't get credit for the win, dabo (and clemson) shouldn't get saddled with the loss, either.

Gem: Raymond Priester allegedly the 3rd best running back in his class (behind Downs and Pegues) and technically recruited as a possible linebacker
Bust: Billy Luckie Supposedly the best "gunslinger" ever recruited by us. Lost the starting job to Streeter, then punched a chick at a party cuz she walked up and asked if he was Brandon Streeter.

If I recall correctly, Priester was actually the 4th ranked running back in that class. There was also a running back from New Jersey who was ranked higher, but I think he only lasted one year at Clemson.

In Josh Miller's defense, he was a very good running back in high school at Manning High. He never really played defense and we tried to make him a linebacker. Some guys are just not cut out to be on the defensive side of the ball.

I hear he went on to do something else fairly well, but he didn't last too long at Clemson (I hate you Tommy Bowden, how did you not give one of the fastest men on the planted a chance to see the field, if nothing else, just to keep him on the team to see if he could become a better football player)

under-utilized while at Clemson. I can remember numerous times when he was wide open accross the middle, 20 yards downfield, waving his arms, and the QB was either sacked or was locked in on another receiver and forced an incomplete.

It would have been good to know if Ben Hall was a bust.

i personally think that Ben Hall was probably

the most underutilized talent that i've ever seen since '77 when i first remember Tiger football. Bowden and the offensive staff wasted him in that offense in my opinion. He had hands and speed and size and got no love in that offense at all. I think that he was wasted much more than he was a bust.

in the 63-17 game, he outran their secondary....he was a freak that was a victim of making players play a scheme instead of scheming the talent you have to a scheme that maximizes their skills.....poor offensive coordination as far as i'm concerned.

those big neck roll pads, specifically LB's? The first player that came to mind was Rahim Abdullah, I always thought they made players look like a bada$$. Check out cards 5 and 6 from the top.

All I meant was that he didn't live up to his #1 tight end billing. He was more highly recruited than Dwayne Allen.

No one comes close to being so highly rated, yet barely played, and then left quickly. And the snaps he got were meaningless in mop up duty - one year.
