For all academic pomposity/accolades of ACC (edit-school rankings)

You would think the B1G invented academics and research institutions (the one's where a high percentage of professors rarely teach or work). All that said, academics and academic reputations matter. And Texas, Florida, and Georgia are highly rated public colleges that Clemson blends with well.
Top public university rankings: 1)UCLA 3)Michigan 4)UVA 5)Florida 5)UNC 10)Ga Tech 10)Texas 14)Wisconsin 16)UGA 17)Ohio State 19)FSU 20)Pitt 23)Penn State 26)Texas A&M 30)Clemson 30)Va Tech 32)NCSU 42)Auburn 42)Oregon 42)Utah 46)Tennessee 54)South Carolina 61)Kentucky 61)Oklahoma 64)Nebraska 67)Alabama 67)Ole Miss 78)Arkansas 85)LSU 96)Oklahoma St
Edit to add US News & World Report Top Public School ratings. Not gospel but respected by schools and students and times are changing. https://www.usnews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/top-public

Georgia sucks. Their graduates can barely tie their own

shoes. And they haven’t won a legit national championship in football since 1980. We do not blend with those morans. We’re Clemson, we’re better than them.

You really are back in action GWPTiger® -- what better way to hit UGA where it hurts than to play them every season?

Florida, are you sure, I live in Florida, they are not perceived that way in State here..... Georgia, are you sure, I have a friend with a Masters from UGA, he could not even get into Clemson as an undergrad!

college in Florida, thus it's harder to get in. It's also harder to get in than Clemson.
The same can be said for UGA. It's harder to get admitted than it is for Clemson.
Both are rated very high by U.S. News and World Report.

One thought is where do we rank in terms of a school another conference might want? There is no doubt Notre Dame is first but are we 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th? If the SEC wants another member, what are they looking for? Do they want a football power, a basketball power, an academic power, or a combination that includes TV market share? If I were the Presidents of the SEC schools, would I want Clemson that can beat most of the SEC football teams on a regular basis or Florida State that has an overall really good athletic department with winning and championship teams all over and a bigger TV market? Or Clemson instead of North Carolina that is always a Top 20 academic school and one of the top 5 basketball programs and has great women's sports? Time will tell.
