If you want DJ to succeed...acknowledge how it feels to be

2000 miles from home while your parents' marriage crumbles...and feel helpless...lost...disconnected. Tell yourself it's nothing and playing football can cover all that up.
All the jabber about DJ doesn't have 'it'...is 'it' the family he was raised in? If that's 'it', then you're right...he doesn't have 'it'. And ask any kid whose been down that path, 'it' is what they want more than anything else. Family...continuity...connection. Yeah, kids selfishly want what was there when they entered this world.
'It' isn't the same for everyone. I feel for DJ and what he's endured.

I obviously am rooting for him and did expect him to do much better last year. I believe if he can clean up and regain his confidence he had he will be fine. Hoping he shocks the world and wins us our first Heisman. Go Tigers

That would be great, for sure. A little OL help, and a clear head, a fully healthy body, and who knows what is possible? Hoping he shows the world.

I was in Iraq when my parents divorced, but I only had a team of 12 that I had to lead and keep alive. I made it back, and worked 12 hr shifts at a mill in Seneca to pay for my undergrad.
But football be hard.

I guess everyone feels some kind of separation anxiety when they leave home for college. This situation has to be much more difficult.
I'm with the rest of the posters.....Here's to DJ having an outstanding season and rocking the college football world...

. . . . . . throw in the injuries, the mix-match OL, the M.A.S.H unit WR Corp, limited play calling as a result of all that and you have a tough situation. One I think the whole team and DJU handled very well. You never heard teammates downing him or doubting him which I loved hearing. I've been a long way from home when tragedy struck(at home not with me) and it's a "different kind of lonely and helpless feeling"! I don't recommend it for anyone; let alone someone who has to be a QB at one of the contenders in CFB.
I predict DJU will have a bounce-back year and put up huge numbers! Be great to send him off to the league with a NC ring! The kid played last year when I think if he was "all about self" he would have sat out. I think he "felt or knew" the others in the QB room were not ready and played anyway. When, honestly, it would have been wiser(possibly) to sit out. Glad he didn't. More overjoyed that this awesome young person is a Clemson Tigers Student and football player! Go Tigers!

Unfortunately, it’s too late for some people here. They have already bailed on him and anointed Klubnik the next great Clemson QB. Some of these people seem to be rooting for DJ to fail so that Cade can play sooner.
I’m pulling for DJ, and believe he will have a very good year. He’s a great guy and has worked his tail off. If anyone deserves massive success this year, its DJ.

Anyone who wishes any player to fail is not a fan. Support every player and every coach in every sport.

Re-reading this post reminded me of the Dr. Seuss quote that says bad things either define you, destroy you, or strengthen you.
Last year was a "bad thing" for DJ, but I believe it strengthens him. With all the challenges around him last year (WR, OL, etc), he didn't blame them and has since taken ownership of his own play. THAT is leadership.
Regardless of what happens on the field (and I do want what is best for our team), I'm pulling for him!

The Seuss quote actually sounds rather Dabo-ish, too.
Go DJ...go Tigers!
