Today they were saying on coot radio he gets to keep his office and he's visiting with the coaches daily.
Spurterd has all the perks, and now zero responsibility.

Not yet, though I am agitating for it. Main issue seems to be that I work in a one-story building, but surely that can be overcome.

I still wouldn't change jobs with that scumbag. There's plenty of stuff you can buy with that kind of money, but a soul isn't one of them.

This is what happens when the school works for Spurrier, not Spurrier working for the school.
They're afraid of him - no telling what he may do if they withhold his allowance.

Some coot fans are upset that Elliot was not given the head coach office, that it could hurt recruiting to take a kid "around the corner" instead of to the head coach's office.

What kid? I mean - if they're at the point that a kid even shows up there, they've probably got him. He's probably down on his luck, dumb, deaf, blind and devoid of all sense of smell.. Not much chance he'll bail once he gets that far.
I can't see an office location scaring him off by then.

that after he quit on the University, the coaches, the players, and the fans, they are all still trying to spin it and make it seem like some kind of noble gesture.
If there is a more gullible, ignorant and deluded fan base on the planet, I've certainly not met them.

You're right. He quit on them and took full clear advantage of them and they are too dumb too realize it. That streak against us and three 11 win seasons have blinded them. They wouldn't have done this for a coach with a lesser record.

His article is flawed. usuc is not the largest public institution of higher learning in SC. That would be Clemson. usuc's school isn't involved in "higher learning", though it is a bigger public institution. They are, however, purveyors of terrible public waste, and paying spurlid for quitting mid stream is gross misuse of state funds (unless, of course he was asked to resign in exchange for that maoney).

It means he was asked to leave. This should go over well with prospective coaches, when they see they fired their all time best coach after only 1.5 bad seasons.

Tanners comment about how these contracts work is not enough. If one single cent of tax payer money s used to pay him, we have a right to know why he is getting paid for quitting.

Why do they ask him to quit in the middle of the season? Doesn't make sense. I more suspect they idolize him as he is the only coach they have ever had that lifted the program above mediocrity for more than a year.

Pretend you are an AD. The media brings doubt that your coach will continue coaching long enough to see the this recruiting class graduate. OK, you got me, pretend your University actually graduates players. Anyway, the coach whose is accused of being too old then proclaims that he will 'probably coach two or three more years,' in order to play the situation for a contract extension.
You give him a one year extension which extends the contract to four full years. By then the top recruit, a five star athlete and defensive back decoots and commits to your in state rival. That leaves a mark. The aftermath of the extortion which earned the coach another year of contract decimates a fairly good class of recruits.
To rub it in the coach goes for a first down on fourth down from your own 22 yard line early in the season and continues to lose to almost every half decent football team on the schedule. Do you let him continue or do you cut your losses?
Remember, he destroyed one recruiting class because you refused him a one year contract extension. It's also important to understand that after this football season you are going to be in the same place you were with this guys again. He's going to be your coach again and have a contract which only covers the next three years.
Something else to remember, this coach is a POS and may make a fool of you by pulling the same 'trick,' that got your dumbazz last season. Are you a fool or do you fire the summbich now to prevent him from exposing your inability to manage your work responsibilities again? Do you write him an extension and cowl down to the god of football or cut your losses and try to salvage this recruiting class?

'salvage,' is the PR translation for stop the bleeding. +1 but remember, I was selling a idea using high pressure used car sales practices on a car that was only used by my grandmother on Sunday for 43 years.

travesty. The guy quit. It was all about Spurrier, not the team. A person making $30,000 a year (and there are tens of millions of them), will take 30 years of work to make what Spurrier is making in 80 days. Only thing worse than giving him the $$$ is if the guy actually takes it.

Shame:"...travesty of wasteful spending..."

But shame on South Carolina now that the cash-strapped school has decided to pay Spurrier his full $4,028,000 for 2015. Though South Carolina considers the post-quitting payment due Spurrier a $900,000 payoff, Spurrier deserves only $2,014,000 for the year — half a salary for half a season.
It’s a travesty of wasteful spending at our state’s largest public institution of higher learning.
